2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X revealed with 1,250 hp and electrified AWD

Chevrolet has officially pulled the covers off the 2026 Corvette ZR1X — a new electrified all-wheel-drive hypercar that sits at the pinnacle of the C8 Corvette lineup. With a combined 1,250 hp and a 0–100 kph time of under 2 seconds, the ZR1X is the most powerful Corvette ever made.

All-new powertrain with electrified AWD

At the heart of the Corvette ZR1X is the new LT7 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8, producing 1,064 hp and 1,123 Nm of torque, all sent to the rear wheels through an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. This is paired with a front-mounted electric motor producing 186 hp and 197 Nm, for a total system output of 1,250 hp.

There is no physical connection between the front and rear axles. Instead, a 1.9 kWh battery located low in the chassis sends power to the front wheels, allowing the Corvette to operate in electric AWD (eAWD) mode. The battery charges itself through regenerative braking and energy recovery — no plug-in required.

Blistering ZR1X performance figures

Thanks to its AWD setup and instant electric torque, GM estimates that the Corvette ZR1X can sprint from 0 to 100 kph in under 2 seconds. It can complete the quarter mile in under 9 seconds, with a trap speed exceeding 240 kph.

The front electric motor can remain engaged up to 257 kph, significantly improving traction and straight-line acceleration. Specialised power delivery modes include:

  • Endurance: Optimises battery usage for extended lapping sessions

  • Qualifying: Delivers maximum performance for lap records

  • Push-to-Pass: On-demand power boost

Advanced chassis and new braking tech

ZR1X benefits from a highly adaptive chassis setup, featuring Magnetic Ride Control and a choice of configurations:

  • Touring setup with Michelin PS4S tyres for daily comfort and track fun

  • ZTK Performance Package with Cup 2R tyres and stiffer springs for max grip

The optional Carbon Aero Package adds a rear wing, dive planes, underbody strakes, and more, capable of producing 545 kg of downforce at top speed.

Braking duties are handled by a bespoke J59 carbon ceramic brake package, developed specifically for the ZR1X. Massive 16.5-inch rotors are clamped by 10-piston front and 6-piston rear callipers, offering deceleration up to 1.9G from high speeds.

Tech-heavy interior with performance data

Inside, the 2026 ZR1X features Corvette’s new cabin design, including a three-screen layout, a redesigned console, and improved materials.

The Performance App displays real-time data, while driver aids such as Launch Control, Regen Torque Vectoring, and Front Axle Pre-Control provide the driver with more control on both road and track.

ZR1X Built in America

Every Corvette ZR1X will be built in Kentucky at GM’s Bowling Green Assembly Plant, with each LT7 engine hand-assembled by expert technicians. The ZR1X will be offered in both coupe and convertible body styles. Pricing and availability will be announced closer to the production date.
