Toyota expands GR line-up in the UAE with GR Corolla and GR Yaris

Al-Futtaim Toyota has expanded its Gazoo Racing (GR) portfolio in the UAE with the launch of two new performance models: the GR Corolla and GR Yaris. The move strengthens Toyota’s high-performance offering in the region, as interest in enthusiast-focused and track-capable vehicles continues to grow.

Toyota has been present in the UAE for over 70 years through its partnership with Al-Futtaim. While the brand has traditionally been associated with durability and reliability, it has in recent years strengthened its performance credentials through Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR), bringing motorsport-derived technology to road cars.

Motorsport DNA

Both models have been developed with direct input from Toyota Gazoo Racing, the company’s motorsport division. Power comes from a 1.6-litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine paired with Toyota’s GR-FOUR all-wheel-drive system. Buyers can choose between an eight-speed Gazoo Racing Direct Automatic Transmission or a six-speed intelligent manual transmission.

A 12.3-inch GR Full TFT multi-information display has been developed with feedback from professional drivers, ensuring clear visibility of performance data even during high-speed track driving. The cockpit layout is focused on driver engagement, complemented by sports leather seats and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Standard equipment includes adaptive cruise control, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear-view camera, blind-spot monitoring, six airbags and an 8-inch infotainment display. The GR Yaris adds built-in navigation and an eight-speaker JBL audio system, while the GR Corolla comes with a six-speaker setup.

GR Corolla: Practical performance

Producing 296 hp and 400 Nm of torque, the GR Corolla blends hot-hatch performance with five-door practicality. Aerodynamic refinements include subtle surface variations in the front bumper corners to improve airflow, while suspension upgrades such as built-in rebound springs in the shock absorbers enhance stability during cornering.

Inside, a shortened shift stroke and motorsport-style pull-type parking brake highlight the car’s track intent. Despite its performance focus, the GR Corolla retains the practicality and cargo space of the standard Corolla hatchback, making it suitable for daily commuting as well as track days.

GR Yaris: WRC-inspired compact performance

Inspired by Toyota’s success in the World Rally Championship (WRC), the GR Yaris features a wide, low stance, large lower grille opening, rear spoiler and reinforced chassis. The design emphasises downforce and stability at speed.

Drive Mode Select allows drivers to adjust the powertrain, steering and air-conditioning settings for everyday or spirited driving. Circuit Mode further enhances track capability with anti-lag control and an increased speed limiter. An available Cooling Package — including a sub-radiator, cool air intake and intercooler sprayer — is offered on automatic variants for sustained performance under demanding conditions.

Growing enthusiast culture

The arrival of the GR Corolla and GR Yaris comes as track days, motorsport events and enthusiast communities continue to expand across the UAE. Younger buyers, in particular, are showing increased interest in compact, lightweight performance models that remain usable in daily driving conditions.

With these additions, Toyota’s GR line-up in the UAE continues to grow, offering performance-focused models that bridge the gap between motorsport heritage and everyday practicality.

Price for the Toyota GR Yaris in the UAE starts from AED 167,900, and price for the Toyota GR Corolla in the UAE starts from AED 182,900.
