Kia PV5 makes Middle East debut as brand’s first PBV model
Kia Middle East & Africa has unveiled the new Kia PV5 in Dubai, marking the regional debut of the Korean brand’s first Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) model. Revealed at the Museum of the Future, the all-electric PV5 is designed as a flexible mobility solution aimed at both private users and commercial operators.
Multiple configurations for different users
The PV5 is built around a modular platform that can be adapted for a variety of applications. During the launch event, Kia showcased several versions of the vehicle, including the PV5 Passenger, PV5 Cargo, PV5 Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV), PV5 Prime Edition and PV5 Drop Side commercial variant.

According to Kia, the PBV concept has been developed to serve a broad range of mobility needs, from personal transportation and ride-hailing services to logistics, business fleets and specialised commercial applications.
Passenger and Cargo models take centre stage
The PV5 Passenger is targeted at families, ride-sharing operators, corporate transportation services and hotel shuttle operators. Kia says the model combines a spacious cabin, sliding side doors and a fully electric powertrain to maximise practicality and ease of use.

Meanwhile, the PV5 Cargo has been developed for delivery companies, SMEs and fleet operators. It offers up to 4.42 cubic metres of cargo capacity and can be specified with multiple battery options. The long-range version uses a 71.2-kWh battery pack and delivers a claimed driving range of up to 524 km under the NEDC testing cycle.
Accessibility and premium transport solutions
Kia also displayed the PV5 WAV, a factory-developed wheelchair-accessible version designed to improve mobility for people of determination. The vehicle incorporates dedicated accessibility features while maintaining full integration with the original platform.
For premium transport operators, the PV5 Prime Edition showcases the platform’s luxury potential, targeting VIP transport services, hotels and executive mobility providers with an emphasis on passenger comfort and privacy.

Commercial flexibility through modular architecture
The PV5 Drop Side highlights the commercial adaptability of Kia’s PBV platform. Based on the PV5 Cab-Chassis architecture, it can be configured for applications such as refrigerated trucks, service vehicles, utility fleets and other specialised business uses requiring customised body solutions.
Technology and charging
Across the range, the PV5 is equipped with a suite of driver assistance systems including Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Following Assist and Smart Cruise Control. The vehicle also supports remote fleet management and diagnostics functions aimed at commercial users.
Charging options include both AC and DC charging, with Kia claiming that DC fast charging can replenish the battery from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes under suitable conditions. The PV5 also features Android Automotive OS with integrated Google services and over-the-air software update capability.
Global recognition and future expansion
Kia says the PV5 has already received several international accolades, including the 2026 International Van of the Year award. The company plans to expand its PBV portfolio further with additional variants and future models, broadening its presence in passenger transport, logistics and specialised commercial mobility sectors.
