Ford’s luxury marque, Lincoln, had a surprise debut at the 2016 New York Auto Show. The Lincoln Navigator Concept is the best look yet at the future flagship of the brand that is currently undergoing a re-do. However, the concept is fitted with two huge gull-wing doors on its either side, with cascading steps to enter the cabin.
Lincoln is not a brand that registers in anyone’s minds when shopping for a luxury car. Generally regarded as just better-trimmed versions of Fords, a proper effort has been made on the newer models to actually differentiate them from their Ford platform-mates. Take this 2016 Lincoln MKX for instance. It’s pretty darn good.
Lincoln has officially revealed their new flagship, the 2017 Continental at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. It is set to go on sale in the United States and China first after the summer.
The Lincoln Continental concept, first shown at the 2015 New York Auto Show earlier this year and praise by the media for its attractive design as well as derided by Bentley for looking like their own Continental Flying Spur, has been given the green light to become the flagship of the Lincoln sedan line, replacing the awkwardly-proportioned MKS.
Car production is an honest process, the Americans would tell you. It’s a simple process, the Japanese will say, and the Germans would go on about how intricate and detailed the process is. But when it comes to after-market assurance, there’s just one word dictating their manufacturing flaws; swift recalls. Recalling faulty vehicles is not unfamiliar in today’s automotive scene. As a matter of fact, millions of vehicles have been recalled in the past and you could see it as a sign that cars are getting safer and manufacturers getting serious about their products.
Pictures of the 2016 Lincoln MKX has leaked early on the internet ahead of its launch at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
While German luxury carmakers created the small premium crossover segment with half-hearted attempts like the BMW X3 and the Mercedes-Benz GLK, it was the Range Rover Evoque that blazed a path by showing that these things can actually be desirable rather than just be dull-looking wagons for soccer moms in Europe, considering the German early-birds never caught on in the GCC. Later attempts like the overpriced Porsche Macan are much more style-conscious, and the Americans are now trying their hand at this game too. This here is the 2015 Lincoln MKC, and it’s now on sale in the UAE.
The aging Lincoln Navigator, long forgotten ever since the last refresh in 2007, is back with another facelift for 2015 that gives it the most conservative interpretation of the brand’s new corporate grille.
The Range Rover Evoque started off a trend that’s left every other luxury carmaker scrambling to jump on the swoopy-compact crossover bandwagon. The latest entrant in the field is the Lincoln MKC, part of the brand’s comeback line-up.
