Starting March 2018, the “eCall” automatic emergency call system will be mandatory in Europe. This means that every new car will be a “connected car” by default. By 2020, it is expected that there will be 250 million connected cars on the world’s roads. And apparently they will soon offer features that will monitor your car’s condition or warn you of wrong-way drivers.

2018 Lexus LS 500h hybrid debuts

The new flagship model of Japanese carmaker Toyota, the Lexus LS500, was displayed at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show a couple of months ago. Following up on that, Lexus has now taken the covers off the green version of this luxury barge at the recently-concluded 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Named the LS 500h, the new model is built on the same “Lexus Global Architecture – Luxury” (GA-L) platform on which the standard model is based.

Ram — Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles’ truck brand — extended their Middle East line-up for 2017 with the addition of the new Ram 1200 metric-ton pickup truck as well as several new trim levels of the existing Ram 1500 full-sizer. We got a taste of these new trucks at a recent event in Dubai, with a bit of offroading around the Bab Al Shams area.
