2009 Chevrolet Traverse in GCC soon

General Motors has announced that the 2009 Chevrolet Traverse will hit Middle East showrooms this December. The Traverse, already on sale in the United States, is a reskinned version of the existing GMC Acadia crossover SUV.

The Traverse looks much better than the Acadia though. The Middle East surely is benefiting as a dumping ground for unsold big 4WDs that have generally become undesirable in America.

Active Fuel Management is available on the 288 hp 3.6-litre V6 engine, allowing cylinders to be shut down to conserve fuel. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel-drive.

The Traverse’s interior can be configured for seven or eight adults, including two front bucket seats, a 60/40-split second-row bench (three passengers) or two second-row captain’s chairs (two passengers) and a 60/40-split third-row bench seat. Perforated leather seats as well as second-row captain’s chairs are available. The third-row seat is actually capable of comfortably seating adults, which is a rarity among midsize 4WD vehicles.

The Traverse is equipped with six standard airbags – two dual-stage frontal airbags, for the driver and front passenger, two seat-mounted pelvic-thorax side-impact airbags in the first row and two head curtain side-impact airbags that cover all three seating rows. ABS brakes and stability control are standard.

Expect prices to be north of Dhs 120,000 when it reaches Dubai and GCC showrooms.

  1. the cylinder deactivation is almost useless. the tahoe hybrid has it and Mohave V8 without cylinder deactivation gets better mpg than tahoe hybrid! what a waste GM! ANyway, the car looks great and very stylish. the rear is especially got some character cuz there’s no large rectangle embose where license plates and stuff. makes the SUv look more car like a family friendly.

  2. its ok>>>>but the rear view really sux…i dont know…it has something with the VW Golf rear view 😕

  3. otside it is nice. Interior does not look special

  4. looks almost like a Mazda CX9…

  5. thats right when you say almost. cuz CX9 is really a looker and it looks damn sporty for a crossover SUV. just a beauty.

  6. 😛 the first client , it is me
    i will come in carshow

  7. Traverse 2009 looks very nice (almost Luxury Jeep). But it will not that much sell in Saudi Arabia the main reason is Price. Since TrailBlazer 2008 is last in Saudi Arabia and Chevrolet is going to launch Traverse in December 2008, company has to think and find the way to reduce the Price, bcoz as per net information expected price in Dhs 120,000, which is unacceptable. Sorry to say, but this is fact. Ma-salama

  8. This is an excellent car with very appealing looks and great driving dynamics. The Acadia has been a great success in the GCC, and I believe this crossover will even sell better. Note that this car is going to be about Dhs 12k cheaper than the Acadia. At the same price as the CX9, it is a much better value.

  9. so nice.i like this car. 😉

  10. I went to the showroom and saw the car. It is REALLY nice, but GM pisses me off with the cheap hard plastic dashboard. Other than that, you can easily fall in love with this car.
