Mitsubishi Outlander GT 2010 prototype unveiled

Mitsubishi Outlander GT 2010 prototype unveiled

2010 Mitsubishi Outlander
A different take on the Outlander crossover SUV was shown by Mitsubishi at the 2009 New York Auto Show. The first thing you notice on this Mitsubishi Outlander ‘prototype’ is the front which distinctly looks the same as that of a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X. Also the rest of the car has been changed, along with the interior, trying to give it a more upscale feel to it.

It still posseses a 3.0-litre V6 engine but power has increased by 10 hp giving it 230 hp and torque comes on earlier. It has also improved fuel efficiency and emissions.

The exterior has the new ‘jet fighter’ grill taken from the Lancer Evolution design and also has revised front bumper, side mirrors, fenders and hood. The Outlander GT prototype has an aluminium roof which is supposed to give it a lower centre of gravity and improved handling. The ride height has also slightly reduced with the shorter and stiffer suspension. It comes with 19-inch OZ Racing Wheels and Brembo brakes.

Clearly Mitsubishi is really trying to make this model sporty but with the engine just producing 230 hp, driving it won’t exactly set the pulses racing. However, Mitsubishi said that the GT has been given the go-ahead for production. Expect the GCC-spec version of the GT to be in Dubai and Abu Dhabi showrooms by next year.
