Mercedes-Benz C-Class 2009 gets new efficient engine

Three newly-developed direct-injection engines are now available for the European-spec BlueEfficiency version of the 2009 Mercedes-Benz C-Class. They are the most fuel-efficient engines ever for the C-Class, and developed using traditional technology rather than a hybrid system.

Two of the engines are diesel, while one runs on petrol. The petrol is the C 250 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY model that uses a direct-injection 4-cylinder. It is rated at 204 hp and offers 310 Nm of torque from a 2.2-litre turbocharged engine. The saloon manages the 0-100 kph run in 7.4 seconds with a manual or 7.5 seconds with an automatic. Top speed is 240 kph for the manual version and 233 kph with the automatic. The rated fuel consumption amounts to only 7.2 litres per 100 km.

It is likely that this model will be added to GCC C-Class range soon. Keep track of Dubai and Abu Dhabi prices for the UAE in the Mercedes-Benz C-Class buyer guide.
