Lexus recalling LS 460 and LS 600h globally

Lexus recalling LS 460 and LS 600h globally

Reports are coming in that the entire Lexus LS line is being recalled for what seems like a minor steering issue, but Toyota is not taking any chances any more.

This time the story is related to steering problems with the Lexus LS 460, LS 460L, LS 600h and LS 600h L. The recall will cover 11,500 models globally, including 3,800 units in the litigious United States. The Japanese company says that some customers in Japan have complained that the front wheels don’t return to their original position quickly enough after executing a turn, and the issue is reportedly both mechanical and software related.

It is yet unknown which model years are affected, but contact your local dealer as this will surely affect some cars in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and other GCC countries.

Update: The Dubai dealer for Lexus confirmed that the LS 460 sold in the UAE are not affected by this recall. However, the new LS 600hL hybrid sold in the UAE are equipped with the “VGRS” variable gear-ratio steering system that is under investigation. Whilst they wait for confirmation if the GCC-spec LS 600hL are affected, they have decided to temporarily suspend sales and are contacting the eight owners of the hybrid LS 600hL.
