Ford Mustang 2011 V6 and V8 launched in the UAE
The 2011 Ford Mustang has been launched in the UAE at a crowded event inside and outside the Dubai Autodrome’s Kartdrome grounds. We’d call the public event a success as about a million Mustang owners and fans showed up for the afternoon launch.
For the first time in more than a decade, Ford Middle East will be officially offering the V6 version of the Mustang in the UAE. This time around, specs for the base model certainly sound impressive with its 305 hp 3.7-litre. Also new is the 412 hp 5.0-litre V8, and both cars will be available with a manual or automatic gearboxes, at vastly reduced prices compared to the 2010 Mustang GT, even though the 2011 cars are essentially almost the same inside and out as the 2010 otherwise.
The event consisted of a V6 autocross course, a V8 speed run and a ride-along with an amateur drifter. It was a great setup, the only problem being we had to line up with the million Mustang owners and fans who had also shown up for the event. So I left instead.

To be fair, I actually got one round in the autocross course. I took it easy, thinking I’ll get a second round, but I was asked to get out of the car instead, at which point I huffed out of the event. I did get a 1:18 Shelby GT500 model though. Prices and specs in the car guide, before anyone asks.

I’m very surprised that it is cheaper than the previous years model because the dealership markup here are insane for nice cars (like 370Z)… anyways it’s a good news!

I attended the event as well at the end of the day and the lines were fortunately not that long. Spoke with the marketing manager at Ford and found out that only a handful of Manual Transmission cars will be sold in the UAE. Apparently there was very little demand from previous years and a lot of supply left in dealers. Even heard that a lot of media that shows up at their PR events can’t even drive a manual…

Hmm nobody is worried about pr events or what is Ford upto, the disappointing part is speed of a muscle car and that also when it is called as the mustang. 180 is disappointing whatsoever the reason be.

I dont know about other sections, but keeping the news section without any update for 4 days if frustrating, I’m a journalist, I’m telling you …. If you keep like this you will loose you fans, I personally visit the website on daily bases but to see it without any update for 4 days …. You imagine. By the way, I’m criticizing because I care about the site and see it as one of the best auto sites in the Arab world, you have big potential, all what you need is to add some ne sections, and keep updating it.

I have been totally knocked out by the acceleration times for 0-400m of 11.8sec!!!!,according to a Youtube video.
So this Mustang GT 5.0 is a superb blend between Ferrari-challenging performance and exhiralating fuel economy of 10.6km/l average,in my notion.
She’s an engineering triumph from totally reborn American motor industry,in parallel with the Cadillac CTS-V as well as the Chevrolet Corvette.

@Asad : The type R is not a good enough car. The ride suks. The real competition to the mustang V6 is the genesis coupe V6. Which in my opinion is a much better car.

I dont think the Genesis Coupe comes in manual or does it?! Driven the Type R myself and I have to admit, it was actually quite fun 😉

@Asad: I agree its quite a gud car, but not as good for the price, and the ride is too hard. For the same price the GC gives you 310 bhp vs 200 of the civic with much better looks and kit. Then again it is a preference thing.For me its a no brainer.but for some its a no brainer the other way round coz its jap vs Kor. i dont fall fall the stereotypes. I believe in merit. Just my opinion. and no i dont think they have it in manual yet, but i think its gonna come soon.
