Ford Shelby GT500 2013 debuts with 650 hp

Ladies and gentlemen, behold the most powerful series-production Mustang ever – the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500. Supposedly sporting the “world’s most powerful” production V8 engine, the all-new Shelby GT500 is what we have in store for 2013; and with enormous power, the future looks bright.

Beneath the hood of the Shelby GT500 resides the aluminium-block 5.8-litre V8 supercharged engine packing 650 hp and an earth-shattering 814 Nm of torque. Handling all that torque would be a heavily revised 6-speed manual transmission, specially optimised to utilise the raw power from the monstrous engine for the best possible performance. Though there are no official performance figures revealed by Ford, the top speed of the Shelby GT500 is speculated to be well in excess of 320 kph. Other features include a launch control system integrated to the engine control and traction control systems, Brembo braking system featuring 6-piston calipers in front and larger front and rear rotors, AdvanceTrac with revised performance-oriented settings, a performance package which includes a Torsen limited-slip differential and SVT-designed Bilstein electronic adjustable dampers, and a Track package which complements the performance package for all-out track performance and features an external engine oil cooler, rear differential cooler and transmission cooler.

The new Ford Shelby GT500 shall go on sale in the U.S. by the middle of next year. Expect it to become available on special-order in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and rest of the GCC during late 2012.

  1. What a demonic engine…

I dunno Its just un-american muscle to know the engine is a DOHC/VVT.. Just feels unusual.. While GM is still adopting pushrods and Dodge adopting SOHC HEMIs..

  2. SSC Ultimate aero, keonigsegg agera and agera R… they wished it was the most powerful V8 haha

  3. It also has carbon fiber rear axle shaft

  4. It’s a good time to be a Mustang fan. This car’s going to destroy cars that cost 3 times as much. I hope the price doesn’t go way above 300k as reports seem to suggest.

  5. I dunno… this looks promising.

I’ve always been a GT-R fan (the whole concept of an affordable supercar has always appealed to me).

This might just be the next best thing! 🙂

  6. 90 likes!!! that confirms the popularity of this thing 🙂

  7. @ Nitin, why don’t you go somewhere else and cry? I’ll get whatever the FU*K I want and I don’t need your POS advice. People here decide what’s better for them with THEIR money. You think something else is better for your money go spend it there don’t spew bull$#!t here. Thanks

When was the last time you even drove a car above 200hp? Let alone 650.. Oh, and NFS or Forza don’t count. 😛 Just as I thought, another Ford hating troll. (y)

  8. Mash, maybe you should ban high-school kids from posting on your blog…

  10. Who would like to buy one fully loaded black car arriving October for 330k?
