BMW X1 2013 facelift unveiled in New York Auto Show
Amidst all the frenzy of the 2012 New York Auto Show this week, BMW revealed their facelifted 2013 X1 sub-compact SUV.
The crossover will feature a revised front fascia that includes tweaked headlights and a new bumper with silver-painted accents. LED highlights and light rings are also available, but only as part of the optional xenon light package.
More noticeable body-colour trim pieces are on the cards, along with new side-view mirrors. The rear also receives a revamped bumper, plus fresh taillights.
Interior changes include a shallower centre console that has been tilted towards the driver. A few touches of chrome is added for that more premium BMW feel.
Under the hood, buyers will have a choice of turbocharged four-cylinder and six-cylinder engines. The X1 xDrive28i will feature a 2.0-litre turbo four, boasting 240 hp. The X1 xDrive35i will step it up a little more with BMW’s turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, which will be good for 300 hp.
The turbo engines coupled with the light chassis and BMW’s automatic gearbox should provide enough punch to make the X1 a blast to drive on the open roads. This GLK-Class rival is expected to hit the shores of UAE, Saudi Arabia and the rest of GCC by the end of this year.
