Mercedes-Benz GL63 AMG joins 2013 GL-Class line

Mercedes-Benz has released their uber luxo-sports SUV, the 2013 GL 63 AMG. It combines the comfort of the S-Class with the benefits of a raised platform of the GL-Class and the power of a motor sourced from in-house tuner AMG.

The 2013 GL 63 AMG gets a 550 hp bi-turbo 5.5-litre V8. Mercedes claim that the GL63 AMG will sprint from 0 to 100 kph in 4.9 seconds and will easy hit the top speed of 250 kph.

Power delivery to all four permanently driven wheels is handled by the AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7-Speed automatic transmission. The super-SUV is equipped with AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension with AIRMATIC package, the ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM, AMG speed-sensitive sports steering and AMG high-performance brake system with ventilated and perforated discs at all four corners with red brake calipers.

The GL63 AMG runs as standard on machine-polished 21-inch AMG alloy wheels sporting 295/40 R 21 tyres. The upright GL radiator grille is decked up with high-gloss black louvers. The AMG styling includes the front valance, which features large air intakes for effective airflow to the cooling modules. On the lower air intake is a narrow gap beneath a fine black fin, through which air flows directly to the cooling modules.

The profile is further enhanced by “V8 BITURBO” badges on the fenders and illuminated sills with an aluminium finish. A visual and acoustic highlight is provided by the two chromed twin end-pipes of the AMG sports exhaust system.

The 2013 Mercedes-Benz GL 63 AMG is expected arrive at GCC dealerships in the first quarter of 2013.
