Suzuki Grand Vitara 2013 gets non-descript facelift

A refreshed Japanese-market Suzuki Escudo has been introduced as a 2013 model, although it looks like a facelift that was done just for the sake of having a facelift.

Known as the Grand Vitara in the Middle East, the 2013 model gets a new front fascia and wheels, while losing its rear spare-tyre carrier, among more minor changes. It looks like the pseudo-tough offroader is being dumbed down to better compete with the deluge of less-capable compact crossovers from other manufacturers.

The GCC-spec Suzuki Grand Vitara should still retain its low-range gearing, and it certainly still retains its awkward side-hinged rear door. That extra side-mirror is only for the Japanese market.

High-end trims get features like sunroof, stability control, 18-inch wheels, red-black interior and a leather-wrapped wheel as well as gearshifter.

Expect the facelifted model to reach Saudi, UAE and other GCC showrooms by the end of the year.

Keep track of updates in the Suzuki Grand Vitara buyer guide.

What do you think?

  1. The only real 4×4 compact suv. Yet it needs really a new generation

  2. Neat front…I like this refresh…

  3. Could it be possible that the 3 door version will loose its spare tire on the tail gate? where it will fit inside the very very tight cargo area?
