2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra revealed

General Motors have revealed pictures and details of the new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and 2014 GMC Sierra pickup trucks.

Exterior-wise, the styling carries pretty much the same DNA as the previous model but the new front fascia seems more imposing now. That is because they have added bigger headlights and a huge grille. GM consciously kept the design similar as, unlike the UAE where big pickup trucks are more of a statement, in the U.S. market it is a high volume seller among conservative buyers. A Z71 package will also be available which includes stronger shocks, front tow hooks and extra under-body protection.

The interior is where the main changes will be, with the new 4.2-inch display on the dashboard. More soft-touch material will be added around the cockpit. The new Silverado and Sierra pickups will have 12-volt outlets, five USB ports and a SD-card slot.

A new 4.3-litre V6 engine adds to the family of 5.3-litre and 6.2-litre V8 motors. They will all be mated to a six-speed automatic. Horsepower figures are still not known but the 5.3-litre will have more power and torque. For improving fuel economy, the V8 engines have cylinder deactivation and direct injection.

The new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra should hit the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman and other GCC countries by next summer.

Keep track of the latest updates and prices in the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra buyer guide.
