2013 Nissan Sentra to hit the UAE and GCC soon

The 2013 Nissan Sentra will be hitting showrooms in the UAE very soon. It is not a replacement for the new sub-compact Nissan Sunny, but will slot in alongside it as a compact sedan offering, effectively replacing the older Nissan Sunny.

Until recently, Sentra was the name given to Sunny models for decades in the United States. Following the design cues of the Maxima and the Altima, the new Sentra will also have the corporate look Nissan has adopted lately. Under the hood will be a 1.8-litre 4-cylinder engine, mated to a CVT. Power will be rated at 130 hp and 174 Nm of torque, assuming we’ll have the same specs as the U.S. model.

The 2013 Nissan Sentra will be launched in the UAE by the middle of January 2013. It should also hit showrooms in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman and other markets soon.

Keep track of the latest prices and updates in the none“>Nissan Sentra buyer guide.

  1. This front remnds me so much of the Suzuki Liana.

  2. at least looks better 100 times than cheap and ugly nissan sunny, actually it should be replaced with sunny, whenever i see nissan sunny on the street I feel sick and keep vomiting …!!!

    • you didn’t feel vomiting, when your father and you learnt driving lessons in same Nissan Sunny, with paki instructor, oh how people change. And this one is not going to be comfortable, everyone thinks they look cool by putting thinner tyres, this brings in road noise and bumpy ride whether its a sunny or a bmw.

    • Man, say what you want to say.. The Nissan Sunny is one of the ugliest, most out-dated and a completely uninspiring car whatsoever..

For the same money I can get myself a far more interesting, better equipped car from the same segment.

    • mmm….all the people who criticize the sunny: do you even grasp HOW OLD this car is ??

its not fair comparing it to the modern cars nowadays…this is plain stupid.

And yes, the Sentra is more modern, but its not exactly a revolution when it comes to design…

    • @V6Turbo We learn from Paki drivers in horrible sunny. But you really forgot about Mallus driving favorite classic sunny.

    • No Adnan, I didn’t forget Mallus :), Sunny is not horrible, its car built to basic and perfection that can run trouble free for years. Second, you can make very streamline looking cars with curves, but you will lose headroom, legroom, rear space, boot etc, of course when you generate so much space inside (as Nissan does these days), the car becomes bulbous, that’s the reason for looks of current Sunny cabin, it quickly became a hit, simple technic, basic car, strong ac, acceptable fuel economy with lots of space inside and in boot, bang the car is hit.

  3. I feel the same too. Sunny is absolutely horrible to look at and it should be replaced with Sentra.

  4. I saw a couple of brand new sentra’s randomly being transported on tow trucks. Don’t think it was registered, cause there were no number plates yet. Saw the first one, about 2 weeks back and the other one, 3 days ago. I think its a good move, but i think its going to eat into the sales of Tiida sedan. I am presuming, they are planning on bring the the next-gen Tiida hatchback only and have customers who want the boot to opt for the Sentra.

  5. Great…… Now the sentra looks like an altima and the altima looks like a maxima 😛
Why is Nissan getting so unimaginative with their designs? :/

    • u r absoultely right. I was about to say the same thing when i saw the pics. In all cases the sunny we have here is the versa sedan in USA which means that current sunny = Tiida in GCC. So expect the Tiida hatchback to look similar to it. This means one of two things: Nissan want Tiida name to die for the favor of upcoming Nissan Sunny Hatchback (nissan Note in some markets) or will kill the name of current sunny in favor of the Tiida. Who want a 0-100km 16 sec car anyway! 😛

    • it’s called character dude.. i can assure you and from a professional artistic point of view that Nissan is one of the most creative makers in the world, unlike it’s better selling rival Toyota

  6. If this thing drives looks feels as good as it looks I will trade my 2011 maxima to it as Nissan is doing one thing making its small car so bloody big inside 🙂 plus it will have petrol cap on right heheh I hope they bring it with the us options give n take 🙂

  7. There is an error in the article.

“Until recently, Sentra was the name given to Sunny models for decades in the United States.”

Sentra and the Sunny are not the same cars. Since I lived in the US for my whole life, I can tell you that the ugly Sunny I see here is definitely not the sporty, nimble Sentra seen in the United States.

Even in the early years, it was similar to the Sunny, but not quite the same. The Sentra was just better. They were never the same thing.

Google the Sentra up. You will want the 2007-2012 Sentra here.

    • There’s no error. But I understand why you’d think that. The Sunny/Sentra lines only split from 2000 onwards, but even then then shared a platform, doors and interior until the new Sentra came in 2007, which itself was just a stretched version of the Sunny platform. Which is why I said until recently.

  8. It was about time for Nissan to bring a car for this segment to compete with old boring Corola and Honda Civic. More choice for us.
It looks like a smaller Altima and there’s nothing wrong with that. As I now Nissan, I can bet Sentra will come with better options than its competitors. Well done Nissan!

  9. any news on the review of this car guys? i remember seeing nissan sentra slotted on the 8th-9th of January, 2013 in your itinerary posted on facebook.

  10. but is the official launch still slated for mid january as mentioned by you above? showroom people are not divulging anything. any info about the trim levels that would be available for UAE and their applicable pricing?

  11. what happened to launch Brother Mashfique? honestly i have my keys in hand for my 2011 maxima to trade it in for this lil car 🙁 🙁

  12. Get lost all….Buy whatever you like…dont blame…
