2014 Chevrolet Caprice relaunched in Saudi Arabia with interior update

We knew the new front-wheel-drive 2014 Chevrolet Impala wouldn’t cut it in the Saudi market, where the love of big rear-wheel-drive sedans runs strong, even after the demise of the Ford Crown Victoria. So it came as no surprise when a reader dropped us a note saying the long-running Caprice is back in Saudi Arabian showrooms as a 2014 model, with a few changes.

General Motors does not seem to be promoting the 2014 Chevrolet Caprice at all though, and we have no contact with them, so we’ll have to go by these Australian photos of the Holden Caprice. The exterior seems to be pretty much unaltered, but the interior looks completely new, with a new reshaped faux-leather dashboard, new multimedia tech bummed off the Malibu, and redone door panels.

There’s no word on which engines are offered in Saudi Arabia, or any other GCC market, but they’ll likely stick with the carryover 6.0-litre V8 with 6-speed automatic as standard. In Australia, they also offer an LPG-fuelled 3.6-litre V6 model, while all prices there have been drastically cut as well, by as much as 25%.

Incidentally, another reader let us know that the 2014 Caprice is also now available in UAE showrooms, even in SS and Royale guises.

Keep track of future updates in the Chevrolet Caprice buyer guide.
