2016 Hyundai Elantra 1

Hyundai has officially taken the wraps off the all-new 2016 Elantra, or the Avante as it is called in some markets. It is now a longer and wider car than its predecessor.

Compared to the outgoing model, the exterior is 20 mm longer, 25 mm wider and 5 mm taller. It now has a large hexagonal front grille, while the higher-spec models get LED daytime running lamps. The taillights looked to have decreased in width as well.

The interior gets a new 3-spoke steering wheel with different buttons, an 8-inch display for the infotainment system, as well as an 8-speaker JBL sound system and alloy pedals. Other optional features include memory function for the seat adjustment, smart trunk (the trunk automatically opens when it detects the smart key near a sensor for more than 3 seconds) and a Harman sound system.

The different petrol engines revealed include a 130 hp 1.6-litre 4-cylinder GDi motor and a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder MPi unit producing 147 hp. They both can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. There is a 1.6-litre diesel engine as well, which produces 134 hp and 306 Nm of torque. The diesel engines gets a 7-speed DCT transmission.

Some optional safety features include up to 7 airbags, lane departure warning system, smart high-beam assist and adaptive cruise control.

The 2016 Hyundai Elantra should come to the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other GCC countries before the end of the year.

  1. Confusing design, rear definitely looks like a Kia.

Won’t find out the exact appearance until its on the road, moreover – I really don’t think UAE will get this loaded version of Elantra here, the primary appeal of Elantra until now was that it’s below Dhs 70,000 with nicer design and interior features compared to its rivals.

With all the listed features, I am sure the price will cross Dhs 80K to Dhs 90K, and if they intend to compete with Accord and Camry’s – then god bless them! 😛

  2. All these fanfare till next generation CIVIC !!!

  3. They ruined a nice car. the previous elantra was one of the best looking cars in its segment, now this thing is without identity, it looks like dodge dart with kia elements, if you are looking for a car in this segment, I would by the old one, especially now they will make good offers on them i guess

  4. I agree….previous model was fluidic as they deemed it to be….this one is a page out of corolla/kia rear and everything in between taking away the uniqueness it had….looks less premium exterior wise than it did.

  5. for me it looks like ford focus-sedan from front side and New-Honda city from back side, but still old one looks much better, wondering if they will do coupe version for Elentra

  6. If you ever drive one of these, you will be surprised by how it drives.

Best value for money in this class.
