Mercedes-Benz has released more images and videos of the 2016 G-Class facelift recently. First introduced back in May, it gets very subtle changes with the overall shape still being the same since it was first introduced decades ago.

The main change is the G 500 getting a new twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 motor, which produces about 422 hp and 610 Nm of torque. This is enough to propel it from 0-100 kph in 5.9 seconds. The new engine also offers better fuel efficiency now, which is said to be 17-percent lower than the outgoing model.

The G 63 AMG still gets the same 5.5-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, but gets a power boost. It now produces 571 hp and 760 Nm of torque, which helps it reach from 0-100 kph in 5.4 seconds.

The G 65 AMG also has the same 6.0-litre V12 biturbo engine, but it now produces 630 hp and 1000 Nm of torque. This gets it from 0-100 kph in 5.3 seconds.

There is also a new EDITION 463 special model by Mercedes-AMG. The interior specs include a two-tone instrument panel, two-tone seats in designo leather with side bolsters in carbon-look leather and contrasting topstitching, seat and door centre panels in a diamond design, carbon-fibre trim and door pulls in nappa leather.

Visually, it gets a stainless steel underguard, AMG sports stripes along the sides, a protective-strip insert in black aluminium look and 21-inch forged wheels.

A new addition to the range is the G 500 4×4² which has the same engine as the standard G 500, but is significantly slower as the 0-100 kph run takes 7.4 seconds. This SUV is more catered towards extreme off-roading conditions, rather than road performance. It has already been spotted lurking outside the Dubai dealer, but whether it is officially on sale in the UAE is still not clear.

There is an entry-level G 350 d, which uses a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder with 242 hp and 600 Nm of torque., enough for it to go from 0-100 kph in 8.8 seconds.

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class should arrive in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other GCC countries before the end of the year.

Keep track of the latest prices and updates in the Mercedes-Benz buyer guide.
