So we got a 2017 McLaren 570GT

Until the beginning of last year, McLaren’s bread-and-butter was the 650S, but it proved too impractical for many in the market for these cars. Then there was the 570S, which was meant to be softer-driving and more practical. Alongside it came the 540C, which was supposed to be even softer. And now there is the 570GT, which is supposed to be…even softer and more practical?

The photo of the orange car above is actually the 570S we got a year ago (because we forgot to take our famous aerial shot of the green 570GT, as you cannot open the door when you park next to a high curb). But as you can see, there is very little difference between the 570S and the 570GT. While we’re not sure if the 570GT is any softer than its predecessors, it is definitely a tiny bit more practical, thanks to its rear opening window-hatch above the engine compartment.

The overall look of the car is also a bit classier, thanks to a monotone exterior with multi-spoke wheels and a beige interior.

So it can fit a bit more luggage in it now. But is there a way to fit kids in it?

The 570GT is still a supercar at heart, so can it ever be as practical as its arch-rival, the Porsche 911 Turbo? Find out more in the full review.

What do you think?

  2. I’ve been reading ur blog for years but don’t understand one thing.. what do u mean when u say ‘so we got xx car’? do u buy it? do u get one for review? some one in ur team buys it? who pays for it?

  3. They are automotive journalists. Manufacturers give them cars to test and review for a day or a couple of days. Unless it says so, no they do not buy the actual car.
@kk, are you living under a rock? :p
