2020 VW Passat revealed in Detroit, confirmed for Middle East

The 2020 Volkswagen Passat was recently revealed at this year’s Detroit Auto Show. It gets some exterior updates and new tech features, along with a choice of new body paint colours and interior upholstery designs.

The new exterior updates include standard LED headlights, bumper design, and “Passat” lettering on the rear spread across the trunk lid, similar to their Arteon model. 17-inch alloy wheels are also standard, with optional 18 and 19-inch alloy wheel designs.

The interior features a new infotainment system with a better touchscreen. The upholstery gets new colours, with the base getting cloth seats, while the higher trims offer leatherette or Nappa leather.

While the US spec 2020 Passat will get the 174 hp 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo model, the Middle East version will most likely continue with the 170 hp 2.5-litre naturally aspirated engine, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The 2020 Volkswagen Passat should arrive in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and other GCC countries after the summer.

Keep track of the latest prices and updates in the Volkswagen Passat buyer guide.

  1. Why the heck do GCC still gets the shitty old engines and other parts of the world get the new engines?

  2. I am very interested in purchasing a another VW Passat model year 2020. However I really want the All-Wheel drive 4-Motion option. I heard VW might add that option. Any word?
