2022 Kia Stinger debuts with more power

Kia is updating their sedan range one by one. The Optima gave way to the new 2021 K5, followed by the Cadenza, making room for the larger and more upmarket K8. Now, they have taken the wraps off the 2022 Kia Stinger. The facelifted sedan now gets more power across its range.

If you are looking for visual cues to identify the new model, the rear is where you should look. The rear tailpipes are different, and there is a long LED light bar connecting the taillights. At the front, the LED DRL pattern has been slightly revised. There are new wheels too. The cabin gets an upgrade in the form of a new 10.25-inch touchscreen. The TFT cluster is a 4.2-inch unit as standard, while a larger 7-inch unit is optional. Updated Nappa leather seat upholstery, new LED ambient lighting, and new trim pieces round off the changes inside.

But, the 2022 Kia Stinger sports the biggest changes under the hood. The base models now get a turbocharged 2.5-litre engine, kicking out the old 2.0-litre unit. This new mill is good for 300 hp, 45 hp more than before. It is accompanied by 422 Nm of torque, propelling the sedan from 0 to 100 kph in just over 5.4 seconds.

The more powerful 2022 Kia Stinger GT will retain its twin-turbo 3.3-litre V6 but it too gets more power, 368 hp of it. All Stinger trims will be driven through an eight-speed automatic transmission, complete with paddle shifters. Buyers can opt for a rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive system depending on the chosen trim. If you seek more pizzazz from the drive, the 2022 Kia Stinger can be specced with a new electronic variable exhaust system that enhances the exhaust noise.

For the ones who seek exclusivity, there is a special Kia Stinger Scorpion variant. This special edition Stinger will get visual updates like a rear spoiler, blacked-out trim on the body,  carbon fibre trim in the cabin and blacked-out alloys.

It is unknown at this time whether the Scorpion will be offered in the UAE, but the expect the updated Stinger to reach GCC showrooms by late summer.

  1. an awsome car that no one bought or will buy..sadly! not just here but world over

  2. Almost perfect sports sedan. Unfortunately no one will buy to the brand image.

  3. They should promote this vehicle with an audio file of their engine and exhaust growl so people can know this car is not just for show. :))

  4. No one will buy this sedan , i would say because of their poor marketing and laid back attitude of their sales staff in the showroom, surprised that they do not want to sell or can identify prospective customers.

    • Fully agree with the comment of the sales staff. Checked the showroom in Dubai for a test drive of a Stinger GT, they never even called me back.

  5. I recently went to the Showroom to see the Ramadan offers, the staff just don’t to attend to a customer. I blame the Juma Al Majid Mgmt for hiring such staff. How do expect the brand to grow?

  6. So badly wanted this car. But the sales team doesn’t even bother selling it. I mailed Kia UAE and got a response saying someone will call back. Then go in touch with dealer and they said no stock.

Also I hear they are discontinuing the model?
