2022 Kia K8 previewed as more upscale replacement for Cadenza

Even with the SUV pandemic gripping the industry hard, some manufacturers thankfully are still choosing to spend their blood, sweat and tears on perfecting their sedans. One such manufacturer is Kia, launching their updated K5 (formerly known as Optima) last year. Now they have decided that the full-size Kia Cadenza should go upmarket and thus they broke out their drawing boards. Here is the result – the new 2022 Kia K8, a sleek and handsome sedan replacing the Cadenza.

The 2022 Kia K8 is big, stretching out to more than 5 metres in length. The design language is a leap from that of the Cadenza it replaces. The Kia signature tiger-nose grill is now frameless, seamlessly integrating to the bumper. The diamond patterns on the grill are mimicked by the LED lights on the front bumper. Topping off the front is the new Kia logo. The fastback-like sloping roof drags our eyes to the rear, which is now decorated by a full-length light bar. It is a striking car, to say the least.

We do not have any official images of the 2022 K8’s interior yet, but going by Kia standards, it should be amazing to look at and be packed to the brim with technology and comfort features.

With the Cadenza now moving upscale with the 2022 Kia K8, the Kia K9 flagship may need other plans to remain in the lineup. With the Genesis brand creating some glorious sedans as well, the Kia flagship may be on the turbulent side, considering the overlap. But only time will tell how Hyundai, Kia and Genesis fan out their sedan lineup to avoid any cannibalism amid already dwindling sales of large sedans.
