DEEPAL S05 EV SUV launched in UAE

Al Tayer Motors has officially launched the all-new DEEPAL S05 in the UAE, marking the second model introduction from Changan’s EV brand within just four months. Following the earlier arrival of the larger S07, the S05 aims to offer compact, connected, and cost-effective electric mobility to UAE drivers.

The S05 is available in two variants – a fully electric version (EV) with a claimed range of 460 km, and a range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) variant, offering 160 km of electric range plus a fuel-based generator that stretches the total range to over 900 km.

DEEPAL S05 Design

Designed on the Changan Platform Architecture (CPA), the DEEPAL S05 boasts a modern profile, characterised by a sloping roofline, frameless windows, hidden door handles, and distinctive “Smart Flying Wing” headlights with a luminous signature. The SUV rides on a 2880 mm wheelbase and measures 4,620 mm in length.

Under the sleek body, the S05 uses a rear-wheel-drive setup with a 160 kW electric motor in the REEV version and a more powerful 175 kW unit in the BEV variant. The REEV model incorporates a 1.5-litre petrol engine that functions solely as a generator, not for propulsion. 

Interior features

Inside, the DEEPAL S05 packs a high-tech cabin built around a 15.4-inch central display and a futuristic AR head-up display (HUD). Other highlights include a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, Queen-class seats with power adjustment and ventilation for front passengers, and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, which powers infotainment and vehicle systems.

Connectivity options are extensive, featuring voice interaction, OTA software updates, app-based remote controls, and online content, including video, music, and navigation services. Charging times are quick too – just 15 minutes (30–80% SoC) for the EV and 20 minutes for the REEV.

Safety and convenience

Safety hasn’t been overlooked either. The S05 offers an Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control (IACC) system, lane-change assist, blind spot monitoring, and a full suite of passive safety features.
