Chery Group Climbs Fortune 500, OMODA&JAECOO Break Industry Record

OMODA & JAECOO, the two fast-growing automotive brands under Chery Group, have helped propel the Chinese automaker to 233rd place on the 2025 Fortune Global 500 list, climbing an impressive 152 spots from last year. The achievement reflects Chery’s continued global expansion, rapid adoption of New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), and strong sales momentum.

Fastest Emerging Brand in the Industry

Since their launch just 26 months ago, OMODA & JAECOO have collectively sold more than 570,000 vehicles worldwide, making them the fastest emerging brand in the automotive industry to cross the half-million sales mark. In the first half of 2025, their contribution to Chery Group’s export volume rose to 37%, up from 21% in 2023.

NEVs Leading the Growth

The brands have quickly positioned themselves as global leaders in hybrid technology. In the first quarter of 2025 alone, NEV sales surged 460% year-on-year, with NEVs now accounting for 51% of total sales.

Driving much of this growth is the JAECOO J7 SHS (Super Hybrid System), the flagship hybrid model that continues to achieve more than 10,000 monthly sales in multiple regions. The J7 SHS has become a benchmark for fuel efficiency, performance, and environmental sustainability.

Chery Group’s Global Strength

Across all brands, Chery Group sold 1.26 million vehicles globally in the first half of 2025, up 14.5% from the same period last year. Of these, 550,000 units were exported, representing 20% of China’s total automobile exports. In fact, a Chery-made vehicle is sold overseas every 29 seconds.

Chery’s NEV sales also grew sharply to 360,000 units in H1 2025, nearly doubling year-on-year, placing the group among industry leaders in volume and growth.

UAE Market to Get Hybrid Models

While OMODA & JAECOO currently offer only petrol-powered models in the UAE, the country will soon benefit from the brand’s advanced hybrid offerings. The JAECOO J7 SHS will make its UAE debut by the end of August 2025, with the J8 SHS and C7 SHS scheduled to follow later this year.

“Our new energy vehicles have been achieving strong sales performance in global markets, and this success on the global stage reflects our commitment to the UAE and wider Middle East markets,” said Shawn Xu, Chief Executive Officer of OMODA & JAECOO Automobile International. “With advanced hybrid solutions and stylish, high-performance crossovers, we will continue to deliver vehicles that align with the UAE’s vision for sustainable mobility.”

Currently, the UAE lineup includes the J7, J8, and C5, with the J5 arriving soon. The upcoming hybrid models are expected to give local buyers more efficient options while maintaining the brands’ focus on design and performance.
