2026 Mercedes-Benz GLS, GLE and AMG GLE 53 Get Major Updates
Mercedes-Benz has unveiled updated versions of its flagship SUV lineup, including the Mercedes-Benz GLS, Mercedes-Benz GLE and Mercedes-AMG GLE 53, bringing more power, enhanced technology and improved comfort across the range.
Mercedes-Benz GLS
The GLS, positioned as the “S-Class of SUVs,” continues to focus on luxury and refinement. It now gets an updated engine range aimed at delivering better performance along with improved acoustic and vibration comfort. The SUV also benefits from the latest “MB.DRIVE” assistance systems, offering support in a wide range of driving situations.

Design updates include a larger grille with chrome detailing, optional illuminated elements, and the signature upright bonnet star. Inside, the new MBUX Superscreen integrates multiple displays into a seamless layout, while rear-seat comfort is enhanced with upgraded packages and improved ride quality through AIRMATIC suspension with cloud-based damper control.
Mercedes-Benz GLE
The GLE continues to build on its legacy as a key player in the premium SUV segment. Mercedes-Benz has introduced updated powertrains alongside improvements in ride and handling. The SUV also adopts a refreshed design with a revised grille, updated lighting elements and optional DIGITAL LIGHT technology. Like the GLS, it benefits from the new-generation MBUX system and enhanced driver assistance supported by advanced sensor integration.

The GLE Coupé combines the practicality of the SUV with a more dynamic, coupe-style design. It receives similar updates in terms of technology, comfort and styling, including redesigned interiors and improved suspension systems. A notable addition across the range is a new AI-powered operating system that enables over-the-air updates, keeping vehicle software current over time.

Technology is a major focus across all models. The latest MBUX setup features AI-driven interaction, including a virtual assistant capable of handling more natural conversations. A suite of up to 27 sensors, including cameras, radar and ultrasonic units, enhances safety and driver assistance. The updated DIGITAL LIGHT system offers improved visibility with longer range and reduced energy consumption.
Mercedes-Benz has also refined comfort systems, including advanced air filtration through ENERGIZING AIR CONTROL, which cleans cabin air at regular intervals. Suspension systems such as E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL and updated AIRMATIC setups further improve ride quality, especially over uneven surfaces.
For performance enthusiasts, the AMG variants bring significant upgrades. The AMG GLE 53 range now features a more powerful electrified 3.0-litre inline-six engine, with outputs reaching up to 585 hp in hybrid form. Both mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid options are available, combining performance with improved efficiency.
These new models will be coming to the UAE & GCC showrooms very soon.
