Freelander 8 Interior Revealed Ahead of Middle East Launch
Chery Jaguar Land Rover has released the first official interior images of the Freelander 8, revealing a technology-heavy cabin with a full-width panoramic display, a large central touchscreen and an unusual front passenger seating concept.
The Freelander 8 will be the first production model from the revived Freelander marque. Rather than returning as a model within the Land Rover range, Freelander has been established as a separate electrified vehicle brand operated through the Chery Jaguar Land Rover joint venture.
Its vehicles will use Chery-developed architecture and will be manufactured at the joint venture’s plant in Changshu, China.
Freelander 8 gets a 46.3-inch panoramic display
The dashboard uses what the manufacturer describes as a T-shaped bridge layout. Its main feature is a 46.3-inch 8K panoramic display positioned across the base of the windscreen, accompanied by a conventional 15.6-inch LED central touchscreen.
The panoramic display appears to provide driving information directly ahead of the driver while also extending towards the front passenger. The central screen handles the infotainment, climate-control and vehicle settings.
Despite the number of screens, the Freelander 8 retains a row of physical controls beneath the central display. The buttons feature a textured “Clous de Paris” pattern commonly associated with luxury watches.
Two large rotary controllers are positioned further down the centre console. Chery Jaguar Land Rover says the controllers are manufactured from K9 optical crystal, with each featuring 144 cut surfaces and illumination from dual ambient-lighting rings offering up to 256 colours.
Separate focus for driver and passenger
Freelander describes the front of the cabin as a “dual-master” layout, with both the driver and passenger receiving their own distinct seating experience.
The elevated driver’s seat is referred to as the “Commander” position and is designed to provide a clearer view of the vehicle’s surroundings. This should complement the Freelander 8’s upright driving position and large SUV proportions.
The front passenger receives what the company calls the “L·A·D·Y” seat. According to Chery Jaguar Land Rover, the seating area can provide as much as 1,200 mm of legroom, allowing an occupant measuring up to 1.9 metres tall to stretch out more comfortably.
Other passenger-focused equipment is expected to include concealed storage compartments, a fragrance system and an air-conditioning system designed to distribute air more gently around the cabin.
The official photographs show a light-coloured interior with metallic detailing, purple ambient lighting and a relatively clean centre console. A shallow storage area is positioned below the rotary controls, while the physical shortcut buttons remain within easy reach of the driver.
Huawei driver assistance and Qualcomm processor
The Freelander 8 is reportedly set to receive Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 5.0 driver-assistance system across the range. The system will work alongside several cameras and sensors to provide assisted driving and parking functions, although the exact features available in export markets have not yet been confirmed.
Its infotainment system is expected to use Qualcomm’s latest-generation Snapdragon 8397 automotive processor.

The SUV is also based on an 800-volt electrical architecture and will use a specialised version of CATL’s Freevoy battery developed for electrified and range-extender vehicles.
Huawei’s i-ATS intelligent all-terrain system will manage the vehicle’s settings across different road and off-road conditions.
Six-seat full-size SUV
The Freelander 8 measures between 5,118 mm and 5,185 mm in length, depending on the exterior specification. It is 2,050 mm wide and approximately 1,898 mm tall, with a 3,040 mm wheelbase.
Its cabin uses a 2+2+2 seating configuration, providing six seats across three rows with individual captain’s chairs in the second row.
An optional towing package with a rated capacity of up to 2,000 kg has also been reported.
Freelander 8 Middle East launch
The Freelander 8 is scheduled to enter the Chinese market during the second half of 2026.
The new Freelander brand is also preparing for a Middle East launch in Abu Dhabi, although UAE specifications, prices and showroom arrival dates have not yet been announced.
