So we got a long-term 2010 Chevy Malibu LTZ

I first asked General Motors’ old PR agency for a long-term test car back in 2005. At the time, they couldn’t comprehend why anyone would need a test car for more than 2 days, let alone some start-up website. Since then, we’ve asked others, and they all rejected us, mumbling something about the “quality” of our audience. But things have changed. Online is in. Chevy design is in. The new GM is in. And the new GM now has cool new PR people. They recently started a long-term test program, and we are only the second people to get a long-termer from them, after our all-time favourite Wheels magazine. Say hello to the 2010 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ, again.

This golden-brown Malibu is actually the same car we got in December last year for a regular road test. It now has a bit more than 12,000 km on the clock, and looks just as clean as it did six months ago, which is always a remarkable feat for a press-fleet car.

We’ve already reviewed this car, so we won’t dwell on the same positive and negative points again. We can tell you right now that we love the car already, simply by virtue of its good looks and uncanny rarity. Five minutes sitting in that well-cooled two-tone leather cabin sealed the deal.

We’ll be reporting a whole lot more on this car over the next one month, just as the summer is creeping in.

What do you think?

  1. new test idea for this car call it a summer temperature cooling test.

using a separate temperature guage park the car and let the car sit in the noon sun for about an hour then switch the engine and a/c see how fast it cools down by letting it sit there in idle without moving. kinda extreme?

  2. Hi Mesh!

I was reading something in Buyers guide of GMC yukon. In which it says that Denail loses its off road ability and low range…. i have seen a lot of Denalis here new model most of them have low range gearing. What up with that???

Shaft, already thought of that before you!

Ali, those are probably fake Denalis. Not too hard to get that look. I can’t find any evidence online that Denalis come with low-range.

  4. Hey Mesh!

That may be the case but i have seen the shift Knobs in Denali and Denali XL right next to the lights knob in the parking of my office.

But this can also be true that people putting up Denali’s alloys and front grills and other denali material on their yukons..
But I am really curious and i will visit a GM showroom and will find out? Whats the deal.

^Yeah you’ll need to take a trip. I can find no info like yours.

  6. Guys, pls just visit the GM showroom / call them up to ascertain if the Denalis really come with low-range (in the UAE market), as I feel its possible they may have different configuration for different markets.

    My two cents.

  7. All I have to say is I had bought a 2008 Limited edition Chevrolet Malibu LTZ in 2008. I ended up losing it due to flood damage. Other than that, the car was perfect. It was dual exhaust, 3.6lter tap shift/automatic, I bought it fully loaded. It was wonderful with cocoa and ebony interior and white with chrome on the outside. Sunroof. Beautiful car. Many folks got it confused with the cadellac. I called it my little cadellac cause that’s how smooth it was. I want another one just like it. I will buy it that year too. I know it was a limited edition so it will be hard to find another one. I have been looking everywhere. Any help on finding another one I would be so greatful. I will drive any distance to go and get it too. That is how much I loved that car!

  8. almost a 100k for this GM car???… i think people are better off with a toyota aurion
