BMW 6-Series Gran Coupé goes on sale in UAE
The all-new 4-door, 4+1 seater BMW 6-Series Gran Coupé has arrived in the UAE, following its global unveiling at the 2012 Geneva International Motor Show in March. The Gran Coupé is the third 6-Series model in the line-up alongside the Convertible and Coupé models which were launched last year.
The all-new Gran Coupé is powered by a choice of two engines with BMW “TwinPower Turbo” technology. The 3.0-litre inline-6 turbo engine in the 640i Gran Coupé produces 320 hp from 5800 to 6000 rpm, good for a 0-100 kph acceleration figure of 5.4 seconds. The 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8, producing 407 hp and 600 Nm of torque, powers the top-of-the-line 650i Gran Coupé. Power from both the engines is managed by an 8-speed sports automatic transmission.
BMW’s Driving Experience Control is added to the centre-console to allow the driver to alter accelerator response characteristics, engine response, power steering characteristics, stability-control settings, damper characteristics and shift characteristics of the automatic transmission.
Just as any BMW, the 6-eries also incorporates a whole range of active and passive safety features. It includes BMW Park Assistant, Speed Limit Information, camera-based Collision Warning with braking function in conjunction with Active Cruise Control and the latest-generation full-colour BMW Head-Up Display that projects symbols on the windscreen in 3D.
The BMW 640i Gran Coupé is available at all local dealers in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman and the rest of the GCC, while the 650i is currently offered in select showrooms only before becoming widely available at the end of summer.
