2013 Jeep Wrangler Renegade in UAE
At the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee launch a couple of months ago in Dubai, we came across the Jeep Wrangler Renegade and the Jeep Wrangler Pickup models offered by the UAE dealer. The two unique models, modified by the dealer using original Mopar parts, have been on sale since the beginning of this year, if not longer, but this is the first time we got an up-close look at them.

The Renegade is a 3-door model with blacked-out wheels, fatter offroad tyres, a black front grille, extra driving lights and “Renegade” bonnet stickers. The price tag is Dhs 129,900.

The Pickup is a converted Unlimited model, built using a US$6,000 kit from Jeep. It involves changing every panel from the B-pillar backwards, and losing the rear seats and rollcage in the process. Fully converted, with driving lights, fender flares, offroad tyres, unique wheels and a lift kit thrown in, the dealer is asking for Dhs 196,900.

Interestingly, Chrysler is still debating whether to build a Wrangler pickup as a regular production model. That would bring down the price some.

  1. Wow, 200k dhs for a Wrangler pick up? Same price as a V6 Land Cruiser. You got to be in love with the Wrangler to pay that kind of money for it. Way too much.

    • thought the same, too funny..

what is even moreso funny is the fact that they ask for a huge premium w/o even changing the ugly barebone tyres from the ‘sport’ version..

anyways, they will be folks buying these..

    • It also looks kind of ugly with all that bulky rubber around the wheel arches. Id rather buy the Renegade if I get one. I love the Wrangler, its a true legend, however I dont like this rubber/plastic overload trend. I prefere the neat look of an older Wrangler.

  2. Ahhhh, finally, a Jeep. I am a prod of owner of a past Jeep cars, they tend to give cutomers what they want. but in the last 11 years they have tried to change their line up and failed in some cases (Jeep XJ), while making it work in others (Jeep grand cherokee srt8-which I think is a mutant).
Even though it has tried to evolve over here but blending plastic and steel and pimping out the car, luckily the new wrangler still is very true to its heritage like the Willis jeep or the CJ5

  3. I think the price is justifiable the kit alone costs around 5000$ without installation and shipping which will be expensive. I saw the steps required to do so its very comprehensive and needs alot of time which would atleast cost you 15 thousand dh around here, thats if they didn’t mess up with the installation *i mean doing it in a garage in not a dealer* so it would cost you about 50 thousand on top of the price of the car so better buy it with warranty then mess up.

  4. Hey look! The car dealers in India have no taste in cars either. At least they haven’t put gaudy chrome parts on these 2 eye sores. But they’ve managed to make both Jeeps look like they’re pictures from the 70’s. And not in a good retro way. I wonder if they have an AMC Pacer on the lot too?…I’d take the Pacer…even after they add white wall tires…
