So we got a 2014 Audi A5 Sportback 3.0T Quattro

We pick up our first Audi for a test-drive after a nearly decade-long hiatus. And it’s a good one too, for our re-introduction to the brand. The facelifted A5 Sportback, with the supercharged V6, is quite a car.

It looks good, in the non-controversial way that all Audi cars look good, and that “four-door coupe” profile doesn’t hurt its practicality at all.

Inside, it goes for a clean look without using overdone styling elements, although the clutter of tech takes some getting used to.

Space inside is decent, while the boot is spacious under that hatch-style tailgate.

And with that tailgate, the A5 Sportback is sort of in a niche of its own at the moment, that of the entry-level luxury liftback segment. It has already spawned copy-cat models from a rival brand, but the original one still looks better, even with just a facelift. The sporting drivetrain helps too. More in the full review.

  1. Love the rims! Interior looks dated.

Btw, my 3.6CC was just as fast as the A7 3.0T, I wonder if the A5 3.0T would be faster since it weighs less than the A7

  2. nice and classy

    agree re rims!

  3. How’s the rear headroom considering that swooping style?

  4. why is it not called the s5? in malaysia its called the s5. everything is the same

  5. @IABA
Please read about the A5 and all its variants.
You’ll figure out why this is not called the S5 🙂
    *facepalm*

  6. So you want to convince me that a5 sportback looks better than bmw 4series grancoupe? Come on for real!!!

  7. A beautiful, practical car that is apparently not available in the US because of our aversion to hatchbacks. I don’t understand, since the A7 is available here, but priced at over 60k. Regarding the BMW Gran Coupe – another beautiful car, although I prefer the Audi from a strictly styling perspective.
