2019 Mercedes Benz G63 AMG is as powerful as the AMG GT-R

A couple of months after the all-new 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class was revealed, their in-house tuners, AMG, unveiled the mental version, the 2019 Mercedes Benz G63 AMG.

Just like the sedate model, the 2019 G63 AMG flaunts a design that carries on the legendary looks of the Geländewagen. But to show off the muscle that it houses under the hood, it has larger intakes and flared wheel arches. The flares are necessary as the G63 AMG can be fitted with wheels as big as 22-inches. A reshaped vertical-bar grille (similar to the AMG GT rather than the AMG sedans), AMG badges and the larger brakes also hint at the mental nature of the machine. To sing the AMG song, it is also fitted with an active exhaust system with side exit pipes.

Under the hood, there is the same 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8, massaged tho squeeze out 577 hp. The power figure matches that of the AMG GT-R sports car. The torque though is higher at 850 Nm. The SUV has also lost 174 kilos which gives it some impressive legs in straight-line sprints. The 0-100 kph run is done and dusted in just over 4.5 seconds.

An AMG Speedshift TCT nine-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters handle the power-delivery duties. The AMG 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system lays the power down while the updated suspension keeps the heavy SUV stable.

The G63 AMG will be launched by the end of this year and that’s when the prices will be announced. There will be an “Edition 1” which will serve as the flagship in their lineup. It will come with a black paint with matte gray stripes. With typical dealer markups, expect it to cost close to Dhs 800,000 when it first lands in the UAE and other GCC countries.

  1. RIP the Grill…..

  2. I really can’t understand the benefit of this car? the shape is the shape of early 70s, if the power is the point, then there are lots of cars comparing to this car. This car was about to be discontinued in early 70s when the Shah of Iran, Mohammad reza shah Pahlavi which was a big shareholder of Dimler at the time asked the company not to discontinue it and chosed this car to be one of the vehicle of Imperial ground forces of Kingdom of Iran after being fortified for military use. That’s the story of the survival of this car. But soon after his fall in 1979 the company who had made a lots of this upgraded military car decided to continue the production by selling to people saying that you are hoping in a military grade vehicle. thats’s it. you can see the references in wikipedia as well.

  3. Front Lift looks fantastic .

  4. Cup holders? I have the 2016 version. Only 1cuo holder in the front and it’s on the passenger side (hanging net) to the left of the passenger knee area. I can’t see any cup holders in the photos. Have they eliminated them completely!! Also, I love my grill on the front end. The new version looks a little too plain for me.

    • The cup-holders are probably in the covered compartment just below the clock, where the clock’s reflection is showing.

  5. What a beauty. I would pick this over Range, any day. This is class apart.

  6. I want to know the price
