2023 Honda Accord signs up the sedan for its 11th generation

Despite the SUV onslaught, some sedan marques still stand supreme, bearing the flag of the three-box on their own. One such brand is the Accord, an ever-green, ever-popular midsize sedan that is now entering its eleventh generation with the all-new 2023 Honda Accord.

Design

The all-new skin is what everyone will notice first. The Accord has never been a drop-dead gorgeous car. But it has always been a decent-looking vehicle for its segment. The new 2024 Honda Accord takes this design to an even more conservative level. As we expected, thanks to the new Civic’s design, the 2023 Honda Accord sports a minimalistic design with thin headlights and a narrow grill up front. It also grows the sedan, to be bigger than the outgoing model.

The rear, too gets a restrained design but with nice touches like the full-width panel that connects the tail lamps. This subdued approach in design does not make the new Accord ugly though. With its clean lines, it sports a certain charm that should be good enough to woo prospective buyers who are still looking out for a sedan.

Interior

Long mesh-like design on the dashboard that cleverly hides the AC vents shows off its connection to the new Civic. The overall interior design is also similarly conservative but without losing any of the modern tech. The central screen is a 7-inch unit as standard, and a 12.3-inch unit comes in the higher variants. This unit supports Over The Air (OTA) updates as well as Google built-in, which can be controlled via Google Assistant. All models get a 10.2-inch driver’s display as standard.

Honda Sensing driver assist features are also a part of the standard package, as are knee and rear passenger side airbags.

Honda Accord specifications

The oily bits also get an update. The 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid gets a fourth-generation powertrain that combines a new turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine and two electric motors. This replaces the old 2.0-litre turbo four-pot. With the new unit, horsepower reduces by 8 hp to 208 hp. But the torque sees an increase from 314 Nm to 335 Nm.

The regular 2023 Honda Accord will soldier on with the same 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine that churns out 192 hp. Small tweaks improve its performance and refinement, Honda claims. The transmission duties are given to a CVT that transfers the power to the front wheels. The chassis of the new Honda Accord gets reinforcements for better rigidity.

The 2023 Honda Accord comes with a lot of weight on its shoulders. It, along with a few others, is taking the legacy of the classic sedan forward. The new Accord does not do a lot of impressive things. But it does everything that matters to its customers, and it does all of them impressively well.
