First Look: ROX 01 REEV

The ROX 01 is a mid-size hybrid SUV introduced by Chinese manufacturer Rox Motor, with a powertrain that includes two electric motors and a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine. It made its debut in the region and quickly gained traction with its standout design, impressive range and interior features.

ROX 01 Performance

This internal combustion engine produces about 154 hp. It functions primarily as a generator to extend the vehicle’s range. Complementing the gasoline engine are two electric motors. The front electric system delivers approximately 200 hp and 340 Nm of torque, while the rear motor provides 270 hp and 400 Nm of torque.

The system offers a total output of approximately 470 hp and 740 Nm of torque. This enables an acceleration from 0 to 100 kph in 5.5 seconds and can hit a top speed of 190 kph.

ROX 01 Battery Capacity and Range

Equipped with a 56.01 kWh ternary lithium battery, the ROX 01 provides a WLTC-rated pure electric range of 235 kilometres. In hybrid mode, utilizing both the electric motors and the gasoline engine, it achieves a combined range of approximately 1,115 kilometres.

Charging Capabilities

Supported by a DC charging, the ROX 01 is equipped with a battery that can charge up to 80-percent in under 30 minutes. The vehicle also supports AC slow charging at 7 kW, requiring approximately 8.6 hours to charge from 0 to 100%.

Dimensions and Seating Capacity

The full-size SUV is available in two configurations; it gets a 7-seat version with a 2-2-3 layout and a 6-seat version with a 2-2-2 layout. Both configurations feature a curb weight of 2,735 kg.

Interior Features

The ROX 01 emphasizes comfort and luxury in its interiors. The driver’s seat offers 14-way electric adjustments, including thigh and lumbar support, along with memory settings. The front passenger seat provides 10-way electric adjustments. Second-row seats feature 8-way electric adjustments, heating, and massage functions.

In the 6-seat version, second-row aerial seats offer 12-way electric adjustments, including a leg rest and the ability to recline to a zero-gravity position. Both first and second rows include heated seats, with ventilation available for the first row.

Exterior Design

Showcasing a modern, boxy design, the exterior sports T-shaped LED daytime running lights and a rear-mounted spare tyre concealed under a cover. The vehicle is equipped with a LiDAR system positioned at the edge of the windshield, supporting advanced semi-autonomous driving capabilities.

Suspension and Handling

The vehicle features an all-aluminium alloy double-wishbone front suspension and a unique H-arm multi-link rear suspension. Both front and rear subframes are constructed from aluminium, and the car includes a Continuous Damping Control (DCC) system for adaptive variable damping.

Additional features include all-wheel ventilated disc brakes, brake energy regeneration, and electric power steering. The vehicle offers multiple driving modes tailored for various terrains, such as snow, rock, mud, and sand wading conditions.
