BAIC BJ40 PRO

2025 BAIC BJ40 PRO launched in Qatar

BAIC Qatar, under the distributorship of Future Motors, has officially launched the all-new BAIC BJ40 PRO SUV in the country with an event at the BAIC showroom in Barwa Commercial District.

Design

The BJ40 PRO represents a new design philosophy BAIC calls “Emotional Block”, which combines rugged, blocky styling with more human-centric, elegant design details. The exterior features a wide horizontal grille, integrated LED block headlights, LED fog lights, a contrasting front bumper with skid plate, and a swing-out rear tailgate with a full-size spare wheel. Other highlights include frame-less doors, functional roof rails, chunky off-road tires, and LED lighting integrated into the wheel arches.

Dimensionally, the BJ40 PRO is 4,790 mm long, 1,940 mm wide, and 1,895 mm tall, with a 2,760 mm wheelbase. Off-road credentials are serious, boasting a 230 mm ground clearance, 750 mm wading depth, and approach/departure/ramp-over angles of 37, 35, and 24 degrees respectively.

Interior and Tech

Inside, the BJ40 PRO combines a tough structure with upscale materials and modern technology. The dashboard houses dual 12.8-inch screens, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a small 1.92-inch start-up screen, and ambient lighting throughout the cabin. Despite the digital overload, physical controls for key functions like drive modes and 4WD settings remain for better usability in real-world off-road conditions.

Power and performance

Under the hood is a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, making 241 hp and 395 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and a part-time 4WD system. This makes the BJ40 PRO a clear step up from its predecessor in terms of performance.

Off-road enthusiasts will appreciate features such as an All-Terrain Control System, Electronic Limited Slip, Front and Rear Axle Locking Differentials, 12-speed Crawl Mode, and an Integrated Metal Roll Cage for improved body rigidity and safety.

Safety and driver aids

The BJ40 PRO is also loaded with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including:

  • 360° panoramic camera

  • ACC Full-speed Adaptive Cruise Control

  • Automatic Emergency Braking

  • Lane Center Keeping & Departure Warning

  • Door Opening Warning

  • Forward & Rear Collision Warnings

  • Intelligent Speed Assistance

  • Intelligent Evasion Support

According to BAIC Qatar GM Zaher Al Hayji, “The BJ40 PRO isn’t just another SUV—it’s a lifestyle choice. It’s built for everything from desert exploration to comfortable city driving, and with its cutting-edge safety tech, it’s ready for families as much as it is for adventurers.”

We are still waiting on the pricing for the BAIC BJ40 PRO.

  1. Why does almost every off-road capable SUV from a Chinese manufacturer look like a Land Rover Defender copy these days?! Make something more original, the Defender should not be considered as the design benchmark for SUV’s.
