JAECOO J5 launched in Saudi Arabia

OMODA & JAECOO officially unveiled its all-new light off-road SUV, the JAECOO J5, during a launch event “JAECOO DAY” held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The Riyadh reveal marks the start of a multi-country debut across Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, and the UAE. The brand is positioning the J5 as a unique mix of urban sophistication, outdoor capability, and intelligent lifestyle design.

UAE Launch Coming Soon

The UAE will get its first look at the JAECOO J5 on August 14 at the JAECOO showroom in Dubai. The UAE edition has been customised for local driving conditions, climate, and consumer preferences, with features aimed at urban professionals, young families, and weekend adventurers.

Riyadh Event Highlights

The Riyadh launch carried the theme “GO DISCOVER” and attracted regional media, industry partners, and SUV enthusiasts. Singer and theatre director Bader Alshuaibi was unveiled as JAECOO’s new regional brand ambassador.

Alongside the J5, the event also showcased the JAECOO J8 and previewed the company’s Super Hybrid System (SHS), highlighting its move towards intelligent, eco-conscious driving solutions for the Middle East.

Key Features of the JAECOO J5

The J5 blends on-road comfort with light off-road capability, making it well-suited for the UAE’s urban roads, highways, and desert outskirts. Standout features include:

  • 540° panoramic camera for easier manoeuvring

  • Three intelligent ARDIS driving modes

  • Independent suspension for stability and comfort

  • Lifestyle-focused touches such as Karaoke Mode and a rooftop camping setup

Super Hybrid System Preview

A dedicated zone at the Riyadh event introduced the SHS Super Hybrid System, built around a 5th-generation 1.5TDGI engine, dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT), and high-performance battery pack. This powertrain will form the basis for the brand’s regional NEV (New Energy Vehicle) strategy, offering higher fuel efficiency, reduced emissions, and a more intuitive driving experience.

Building the Brand in the Middle East

With the Riyadh launch setting the tone and the Dubai event just around the corner, OMODA & JAECOO are expanding their presence in the GCC. The push comes amid strong global momentum, including Chery Group’s recent ranking in the 2025 Fortune Global 500 and over 5 million cumulative exports worldwide.
