Denza Z Electric Supercar Debuts with 1,582 hp and 350 kph Top Speed

BYD’s premium Denza brand has revealed the production versions of the Denza Z Coupe and Denza Z Racing at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The electric 2+2 sports car becomes Denza’s new flagship and will be offered in Coupe, Spider and track-focused Racing variants.

The Denza Z Coupe will start from GBP 142,900 in the UK, equivalent to approximately USD 184,800 or AED 679,000 based on the quoted US-dollar price. UAE pricing and availability have not yet been announced.

Three-Motor Electric Powertrain

The Denza Z uses a three-motor all-wheel-drive system, with one electric motor at the front and two independently controlled motors at the rear. Combined output is rated at 1,180 kW, equivalent to 1,582 hp or 1,604 PS, along with 1,240 Nm of torque.

The standard Denza Z Coupe accelerates from 0-100 kph in 2.25 seconds and has a top speed of approximately 299 kph. The Racing version reduces the acceleration time to 1.96 seconds when equipped with semi-slick tyres, while its top speed increases to around 350 kph.

Denza has also confirmed that an even more powerful Special Edition is being developed. Expected to produce more than 2,000 hp, it is being designed with Nürburgring lap-record attempts in mind.

Racing Version Gets Serious Aerodynamics

The Denza Z Racing receives a more aggressive carbon-fibre aerodynamic package, including a large rear wing, front splitter, diffuser and an S-duct that channels air through the front of the car.

At its maximum speed, the Racing version is claimed to produce as much as 1,060 kg of downforce. Denza says the future Special Edition could generate more than 2,000 kg of downforce at 300 kph.

Despite its performance, the regular Coupe is configured as a 2+2 rather than a strict two-seater. It measures 4,780 mm long, 1,990 mm wide and 1,350 mm tall, with a 2,780 mm wheelbase. The Racing model is longer at 4,870 mm due to its extended aerodynamic bodywork.

Steer-by-Wire and Active Suspension

The Denza Z is based on BYD’s e³ intelligent vehicle-control platform. Its steer-by-wire system removes the conventional mechanical connection between the steering wheel and front wheels, while the two rear motors can adjust torque independently to influence the car’s behaviour through corners.

Coupe and Spider versions use Denza’s DiSus-M magnetorheological suspension together with air springs. The Racing model replaces the air suspension with conventional coil springs intended to provide more consistent performance on a circuit.

Carbon-ceramic brakes are fitted, with six-piston front calipers helping manage repeated high-speed braking. An overboost function can also temporarily increase maximum system torque by 30 percent for up to 20 seconds.

Blade Battery and Flash Charging

Export versions of the Denza Z are reported to use a 76 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate Blade Battery. The estimated WLTP driving range is around 409 km, although final figures may vary between versions and markets.

The Z supports BYD’s 1,500 kW Flash Charging technology. When connected to a compatible charger, the battery can reportedly be charged from 10 to 70 percent in five minutes and from 10 to 97 percent in nine minutes. Availability of chargers capable of delivering these speeds will initially be limited.

Will the Denza Z Launch in the GCC?

Denza already operates in the GCC, where the B5 and B8 plug-in hybrid SUVs are available. This gives the company an established local sales and aftersales network should it decide to introduce the Z.

The Denza Z would give the brand a halo model positioned against high-performance cars such as the Porsche 911 Turbo, Maserati GranTurismo Folgore and Mercedes-AMG GT.

However, Denza has not confirmed whether the Z Coupe, Spider or Racing will be offered in the UAE. Given the region’s strong demand for limited-production supercars and high-performance electric vehicles, the GCC would be a natural market for the new flagship.
