The 2016 Middle East Car Of the Year (MECOTY) awards ceremony was held last week with the results being announced during the reborn 2016 Abu Dhabi Motor Show and Custom Show Emirates that are running concurrently in Abu Dhabi. The final winners were decided by totalling the scores of a jury panel from 12 different publications around the Middle East, including DriveArabia.com’s tiny contribution. Individual awards were given to cars according to their categories, with the main 2016 Middle East Car Of The Year award going to the Volvo XC90, and the winner by public voting being the Audi Q7.

We’ve driven the 2006 Range Rover. We’ve driven the 2010 Range Rover. Heck, we own a 2005 Range Rover. We’ve also driven all the smaller iterations of the Range Rover that have cropped up in the past decade, namely the Sport and the Evoque. The E-class has been a significant part of the Mercedes-Benz line-up since its inception in 1993 as a facelifted W124-gen model. Alfa Romeo has revealed the regular versions of their new rear-wheel-drive Giulia sedan at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. Built to take on the BMW 3-series, Mercedes C-Class and Audi A4, the Giulia is presented to us in three variants — base, Special, and the red hot Quadrifoglio that was first unveiled late last year with with its extra vents, rear diffuser, boot spoiler and bigger wheels.

Fiat expands their affordable Tipo range of cars by adding two new models at the Geneva Motor Show. The Tipo estate and hatchback were displayed at the Fiat stand.
