Suzuki presents Crosshiker, X-Lander and Hustler concepts at Tokyo Motor Show


Following the revealing of the the iV-4 at the Frankfurt Motor Show earlier this year, Suzuki yet again showed off a slew of concepts at the Tokyo Motor Show this year. We’re not exactly sure of what these might turn out to be in the future, but the Crosshiker, X-Lander and Hustler concepts certainly offers some ideas on their design direction for upcoming models.

Toyota FT-86 finally debuts as GT 86


The much-hyped Toyota FT-86 has finally been revealed, except that the marketeers have decided to rename the production version as the Toyota GT 86, after spending millions marketing the FT-86 name. Toyota’s new GT 86, with its name derived from the AE86-code Toyota Corolla GT-S of the 1980s, makes its world debut at the Tokyo Motor Show on November 30. The compact 2+2 model will go on sale in Europe in June 2012, but is also slated to come to the Middle East. Incidentally, it will be known in Japan as the Toyota Hachiroku, which translates to simply Toyota 86.

Honda has unveiled their all-new 2010 VFR 1200F motorcycle. Underneath the extensive bodywork is a vacuum-molded cast aluminium chassis and a 1,237 cc V4 engine that is good for 172 hp at 10000 rpm and 129 Nm of torque at a screaming 8750 rpm. That is just insane for a two-wheeler.

Toyota FT-86 concept harks back to affordable AE86


The iconic Toyota Sprinter Trueno, also known as the Corolla GT-S in some markets, was a 2-door hatchback that was first introduced in 1983. It had a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder engine with maybe 130 hp and, more importantly, a balanced rear-wheel-drive chassis. It became more commonly known as the AE86, nicknamed after its chassis designation, and is popular on the Japanese drift scene till today, even though production ended in 1986. It achieved worldwide popularity only during this past decade, as the hero car in the Japanese animated series Initial D. And now, Toyota is readying a successor in the form of the FT-86 concept at the 2009 Tokyo Auto Show.
