Toyota hopes to conquer Japanese taxi market with JPN Concept


Firstly, lets point out that Toyota isn’t doing all that bad in the Japanese taxi industry. However, their biggest rival at this point is Nissan, and in an attempt to overshadow the competition, Toyota is showcasing the new JPN Taxi Concept. The car was shown at the Tokyo Motor Show, and comes off as a riff on the legendary London Taxi.

Middle East Motor Awards 2013 results announced


The results of the 2013 Middle East Motor Awards were announced last evening at a ceremony on the Al Majaz Waterfront in Sharjah, hosted by Muhammed Ali Sajjad of the Expo Centre Sharjah. I was one of the 18 judges, although the cars were score and the points were tallied long ago, so were there just to hear who were the winners in each category, as well as Car Of The Year.

There we were, a Ford Raptor in our parking lot, and the only logical thing to do was to venture into the desert wilderness. So we were on the lookout for a rental 4×4 as a backup vehicle for desert-testing something as big as a tank, in case it needed to get pulled out! While we were looking for nothing less than a powerful V6 at least, we ended up with a 2013 Toyota Fortuner 2.7, thanks to the ridiculously ill-informed staff of an international rental agency.
