Electric cars seem to be everywhere. And even though they haven’t flooded the GCC market yet, we have a feeling that we’re not too far off. And something that could support this statement would have to be the news that the electric powered Land Rover Defender has passed the “real-world scenarios” test.
It’s got a thorough replacement in the form of the Q50 sedan, but Infiniti is banking on the G37 and has announced that it will continue in some markets, even as the former is due to go on sale soon.
So if you thought that every car manufacturer was going the ‘Ford Explorer’ way when it came to overhauling their existing midsize SUVs, you’d be wrong. There are a few manufacturers who decided to try the opposite route, taking a step backwards by choosing to transform a commercial pick-up into a four-wheel-drive wagon in a half-hearted bid to create a viable replacement for their already-cancelled midsize SUV. So what was essentially competing with the refined Toyota Prado, now tries to go after the simplistic Toyota Fortuner. That new wagon is none other than the all-new Thailand-built 2013 Chevrolet Trailblazer.
One could argue that this is just another Gallardo. But what Lamborghini announced recently is the all-wheel-drive LP 570-4 Squadra Corse, and we feel it is something similar to the LP 570-4 Super Trofeo single-series race car revealed back in 2011. The world premiere of the new offspring is expected be held at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September.
Much to the love of safari lovers, the new Range Rover has gone topless. And much of the credit goes to the engineers of the car, Newport Convertible Engineering or simply the NCE.
Hyundai has revealed a few details of the new Hyundai i10 super-mini which is due to make its official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.
The 2.5-litre version of the Mazda CX-5 was launched elsewhere a few months ago, and we had assumed that it’d take ages to reach the GCC. However, word is Mazda’s UAE dealer has been quietly offering the bigger-engined version for at least a month now.
If you remember, our recently-purchased Jaguar XK went to the dealership straight after we were handed the keys by the previous owner, because it was throwing up “overheating” warnings. Thankfully it turned out to be just a thermostat. As soon as we picked it up from the service centre though, there was an intermittent whining noise coming from who-knows-where. Over a week, the noise became more and more common, to the point where it was even giving out the occasional whine while revved at standstill. We were expecting the worst. After all, Jaguar’s reputation precedes them.
Four people were killed when their car rammed into a 4×4 parked in the middle of the road on Sheikh Zayed Highway after it got a flat tyre. Normally we don’t report on accidents caused by the ignorance of people, but we figured we’ll take a look at what you should really do when you get a tyre puncture on the highway.
