On invitation from Fiat-Chrysler, we were in Las Vegas last week. The Mopar brand debuted six modified vehicle creations at the 2016 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Some of these cars were created to highlight the possibilities with Mopar accessories and aftermarket parts, while others were created to get feedback on future accessory offerings. The show was also used to launch new Mopar Crate HEMI engine kits that provide classic hotrod restorers a factory-backed, efficient option for plugging modern HEMI engines into Mopar vehicles from the 1970s and earlier. Better known as SEMA, it is arguably the largest tuner show in the world, although it is strictly a trade show, although it’s pretty crowded even without the general public being allowed in. The American brands were the most strongly represented on the show floor, followed by the Japanese, with a few dabbling in European and Korean makes. The stands generally consisted of aftermarket suppliers, tuning and restoration garages, wheel manufacturers and accessories outfits, among others. Major carmakers with custom concepts at the show included Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles,
The Honda Accord got a major frontal facelift for 2016 in America, and it took a year to come here as a 2017 model. Now that they’re here, we took a spin in both the V6 and I4 versions to see if the changes are more than skin-deep.
Swedish magazine Teknikens Värld, well-known for their “moose” tests that involve swerving a car to the next lane, then swerving back to the original lane, has performed these tests on a variety of pickup trucks, with interesting results.
