BMW North America have announced that the new BMW Alpina B7 will join its U.S. line-up as a 2011 model and is due to be officially launched at the Chicago Auto Show in February. For those keeping tabs, the B7 first went on sale in Abu Dhabi through the local BMW dealer.
SMS Supercars, who are known in the U.S. for pimping up Mustangs and Challengers, have decided to do the same with the Chevrolet Camaro. Along with exterior and interior upgrades, SMS beefs up the power in these muscle cars. They have released photos of its upcoming Chevrolet Camaro model, the SMS 620 Camaro.
The 2010 Opel Astra, which was set to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, has been officially released by GM. It is set to get a lot of its features from Opel’s midsize sedan model, the Opel Insignia. It comes with a new chassis and is also longer than the previous model by 71 mm.
Lingenfelter Performance Engineering, based in the US is known for tuning up GM sports cars such as the Chevrolet Corvette. They also beef up the exterior to give them a more aggressive look. They haven’t disappointed with the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro.
Volkswagen has just released a more aggressive-looking Tiguan model in Europe called the Volkswagen Tiguan R Line. It does not get any engine upgrades but it does add some flavour to the dull design.
GM’s Opel division, all but forgotten in the GCC, has released a power-packed midsize sedan in Europe, called the Opel Insignia OPC. Good looks, 300+ hp turbocharged engine, 4×4 technology, below 6 seconds 0-100 kph and tested extensively in the famous Nurbrgring circuit, everything sounds like a winner, except maybe the name.
You have to wonder what the marketing people at Land Rover are getting paid for, when they thought it appropriate to rename the LR3 just because it received a new grille and a new engine for the 2010 model year.
The 2009 Renault Koleos was released in the UAE on the fake slopes of Ski Dubai in the Mall of the Emirates to show off its off-roading capabilities. It is Renault’s first crossover powered with a 2.5-litre 170 hp engine.
A different take on the Outlander crossover SUV was shown by Mitsubishi at the 2009 New York Auto Show. The first thing you notice on this Mitsubishi Outlander ‘prototype’ is the front which distinctly looks the same as that of a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X. Also the rest of the car has been changed, along with the interior, trying to give it a more upscale feel to it.
The BMW 760i and 760iL has recently been revealed in Europe. It will be powered by a 6.0-litre V12 engine and like all the latest BMW engines, this too will also have twin-turbochargers, therefore producing 544 hp and 750 Nm of torque.
