Porsche Cayenne 2011 revealed with UAE prices

The 2011 Porsche Cayenne has been revealed. Always popular in this region, the new Porsche Cayenne is certain to turn heads. Power and fuel efficiency has improved in all the models.

Looking at the engine specs, the entry model Cayenne gets a 300 hp 3.6-litre V6 engine. The Cayenne S gets a 400 hp 4.8-litre V8 engine, which is 15 more than the previous model, whereas the Turbo S, with its 4.8-litre V8 with twin-turbochargers produces 500 hp. A hybrid model, the Cayenne Hybrid, is fitted with a 3.0-litre supercharged engine and electric motor, producing 380 hp and an excessive 578 Nm of torque. There is also a 236 hp Cayenne D with a 3.0-litre turbodiesel V6, possibly available here by special order.

The new Cayenne has a 48 mm longer wheelbase than its predecessor. Also interior space has increased, allowing the rear seat to slide back and forth by 160 mm. The interior has greatly improved, looking a lot like the Panamera cabin.

All the models get a new 8-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission and an Automatic Start-Stop function, which was first introduced in the Panamera. These new additions contribute to the improvements in fuel economy and performance. The Cayenne is said to be 20% more fuel efficient than the previous model, whereas it has improved by 23% on the Cayenne S, which is 181 kg lighter than the 2010 model, and also the same with the Cayenne Turbo.

The Cayenne claims to be a capable off-roader, with random footage of desert-testing in Dubai. But with no low-range gearing offered any more, we wouldn’t hold our breath.

GCC prices we skimmed off the net say Dhs 242,000 for the base Cayenne, Dhs 248,000 for the Cayenne Diesel, Dhs 290,000 for the Cayenne S, Dhs 309,000 for the Cayenne Hybrid, and Dhs 475,000 for the Cayenne Turbo. Options can add more than Dhs 100,000 to the base prices.

The 2011 Porsche Cayenne should be hitting showrooms in the UAE and elsewhere by June 2010, ready to become as common as the Corolla on the streets of Dubai and Abu Dhabi. To get the latest specs and updates, check out the Porsche Cayenne buyer guide.
