Audi RS5 2011 revealed

Audi has just revealed the 2011 Audi RS5 model. The coupe, based on the Audi A5, packs a powerful V8 4.2-litre engine with an all-wheel drive system.

The high-revving V8 engine produces 444 hp at 8250 rpm and maximum torque of 420 Nm is available between 4000 to 6000 rpm. Packed with an S tronic 7-speed transmission, the RS5 zips from 0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and the top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h.

The S tronic transmission offers three different modes: auto, comfort and dynamic. There is also a launch control feature. The new quattro system has a rear-biased 40:60 ratio differential. The differential distributes torque accordingly depending on the situation, with as much as 70% to the front or up to 85% to the back. The ride height is 2 cm lower than the standard Audi A5. The 19-inch rims are wrapped around with 275/30 size tyres.

The exterior gets some flared fenders along with a splitter bumper in the front and a diffuser kit at the back with the two tailpipes integrated in it. The single-frame grille at the front get a rhombus-pattern grid. The mirror covers get a matte aluminium look to it. The rear spoiler automatically extends at speeds of 120 km/h and retracts when the speed drops to around 80 km/h. There are different styling packages available for the body and engine compartment.

There are different seat choices. Standard are two-tone sports seats with a leather and Alcantara finish. Other options are bucket seats with folding backrests or climate-controlled comfort seats. The steering wheel is wrapped around perforated leather and instrument panel is black with white lettering. There is a lap timer to record your lap times on track days and an oil temperature gauge.

The 2011 Audi RS5 should be available in the UAE and GCC within this year. For the latest updates and specs on the Audi A5 models in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, check out the Audi A5 buyer guide.

  1. simply superb…

  2. Audi are using the same front on all models!
The cars are getting dull, I think they need to come up with a more fresh look especially for the new models.

  3. The other day I saw a new white A6 and ignored it at the petrol station. Then my friend goes, “what the hell? that’s an RS6! looks like a taxi!” And then I saw the RS6 badge.

  4. @Hassan

I agree. Audi cars used to be the ‘cool’ brand among the German cars group. Now they’re just so plain and boring.

  5. Cant blame the Audi designers who have been strictly instructed to use the same head and tail lamp designs in their complete fleet of models. Anyone who dares to make a design change is thrown into the chamber of death.

  6. I agree with MASH the A6 is just another dull car (as far as design), they used to be very unique cars..
I watched on TV the other day the testing of the new Audi A8 2010, same front as well and a bit boring.
