Ferrari FF replaces 612 for 2012

Ferrari FF replaces 612 for 2012

Ferrari has broken tradition and made their first ever four-wheel-drive “thing”, the FF, short for Ferrari Four. Or it could stand for Ferrari Ferrari Four. Or it could mean Ferrari Front-engine Front-wheel-drive, as per the common meaning of the “FF” term. One thing is for sure, and that is it will replace the stunning 612 Scaglietti. The 2012 Ferrari FF will debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

The FF has an odd hatchback-shape, designed by Pininfarina. Ferrari’s patented four-wheel-drive weighs 50% less than a conventional four-wheel-drive system, maintaining a rear-biased 47:53 weight distribution. Inside, the rear seats fold down to make more luggage room. It can accommodate four people.

The FF gets a massive 6.3-litre V12 engine. It revs all the way up to 8000 rpm, delivering 651 hp. Torque is rated 683 Nm at 6000 rpm. That power is controlled using the dual-clutch F1 gearbox and it helps reach 0-100 kph in just 3.7 seconds. Top speed is said to be around 335 kph. Fuel economy is rated at an awful 15.4 l/100 km.

Ferrari has always been popular in the GCC, especially in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Expect to see the 2012 Ferrari FF on the streets of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, or more likely doing rounds in Jumeirah, although it likely won’t sell as much as Ferrari thinks it will sell.

Keep track of updates in the Ferrari buyer guide.

  1. Does this mean ferrari will be going into the WRC?

  2. no it means soon they will bring a four door version and join the panemeara, rapide….just in case and a station wagon for the sultan of brunei. The last time they had 8 of the 456 gt in automatic made for him.

  3. i agree with ronnie…this slowly goes panemera way.. 🙂

  4. i think it is a little bit boring..
    nothing new..

  5. This would be awesome on the roads … seems to be very wide !!! One of its kind up to now …

  6. Looking at it from a technical point of view, not something for the superrich to pointlessly waste money on; this car serves as a platform for new technology… AWD system, offroading kit.. You never know I really believe that Ferrari will make something worthy out of it not only a ‘4 wheel thing’.. If that is true then we’ll c it in rallies in the future and it will be true to its Ferrari heritage.. Look at that impressive handling on snow and water..
At least they did and should do something out of it; not venture to the luxury 4×4 market for the sake of it like porsche, bmw and audi did..

  7. Nice! Bold stuff again by Ferrari. I dont think this will sell much in the GCC. Ferrari hopes it will appeal in particular to rich buyers who usually use all-wheel-drive saloons or SUVs for winter driving and especially ski trips at this time of the year

  8. by far one of the ugliest ferrari’s I have ever seen. what is this???

this looks like the ugly z3 thingy with trunk they built some years back..

  9. Ugly as hell…but I want one after seeing the youtube video!

  10. I think this is fantastic !! An in your face to the porsche panamera !! Finally a Ferrari that people can use everyday !! Kudos !

  11. I love the looks of the new FF, I also like the fact that it weighs 50% less that most 4 wheel drive vehicles. I drive a Bentley GT and this FF seems like the likley replacement.

  12. Ferrari’s attempt to make a hot Hatch . lol
Love the front .. dont think the back part is good enough :S
