Peugeot 308 2012 facelift revealed

Peugeot has revealed the new 308. The 2012 Peugeot 308 gets a minor face-lift and some engine changes, improving fuel efficiency. A full debut will take place at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.

The Peugeot 308 now has a Stop & Start system on its 112 hp 1.6-litre 4-cylinder engine. They have also introduced a proper manual gearbox for this model. Weight has been reduced by 25 kg on average on all the 308 models. The entry-level 1.6-litre engine produces about 98 hp, whereas the top-spec Gti produces 200 hp. Power in the diesel engine ranges from 92 hp to 163 hp.

On the outside, there are now LED front lights with light guide as well as Xenon headlamps with titanium coloured mask.

The 2012 Peugeot 308 should make its debut in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and other GCC countries in the second half of this year.

  1. decent car.
but interior looks mostly of plastic.

  2. I have simple question to all car makers, every new generation, or even sometimes before changing the generation totally (Like the case above), they say fuel economy improved from 5% to higher numbers that even reach to 15 %, my question is ; in 1986 I had VW Passat with manual trans (4 speed of course) in my home country, my home city was 270 kilometers away from the capital and one fuel tank (60 liters) was enough for me to go to the capital and come back to my city and that means around 520-540 KMs per tank while the car had carborator and only 4 speed trans, so according to car makers who every 2-3 years say they improved fuel economy by rates averaging at 10 %, with some other techonological jumps like fuel injection and direct fuel injection and 6 speed trans, now the cars should have reached 100 % or even more better fuel consumption improvement and a full tank should run any car for at least 800 to 1000 KMs but this is not the case I’m seeing, so please, stop lying on us in this regrad

    • Samer mentions some interesting point here… But see when they say the fuel economy improved you need to think about all the extra heavy weight modern cars have.. Im sure the passat is economical but consider also the fact that today’s avg. dohc engine with vvti produces some 50-70 hps more than the the previous sohc engines while giving the same and in some cases better fuel economy..

In the end of the day… I dont like the cheap commerical direction that carmakers are going to.. I dont see a bright future for cars… As they are built to be fun to drive and loaded with nice technology and then thrown in the garbage within 10 years time, at least speaking in our climate conditions… While cars from the early 90s like the mazda mx5 or VW golf still run solid and are easier to maintain and will probably stay running forever if maintained..

  3. In my humble opinion.I do agree they do exagerrate and sometimes even lie, but I do believe cars have got a lot more better and efficient as time has gone by. The statistics do not give the complete picture. Sticking to the transmission, the technologies are not only there to make the mileage go up but to also provide a much more refined driving experience. The 6 speed transmissions today, the good ones, are much smoother, faster and refined than the 4 speeds of yesteryears. Cars today are a LOT more powerful, but still offer the same mileage figures and providing much more luxury. There are cars which will also cross the 800 km mark. Look into VW POLO BlueMotion and the likes. To sum it up, we are in the golden days of cars, where they have reached almost the pinnacle of engineering, and it is actually a sad era for ppl like us. As the powerful, beautiful and soulful cars that we enthusiasts love, will soon be extinct !!

    • I disagree… The auto revolution was in the 80s when Turbos, AWD, tiptronics, ABS, airbags and many more were created and have completely reshaped the next 2 decades of the car world.
From the late 80s-today nothing new came up other than the same technologies being more refined and squeezed into more mainstream cars.. Nowadays they are in hibernation and most cars are built with a huge influence from the marketing department unfortunately…

    • You missed my point and I agree, I wasnt exactly talking about the reliability boxes when i said engineering pinnacle ;). Those cars are made out of demand, not out of passion. They are not cars, but a reliable, sensible, safe, relatively comfortable means of transport and ppl who buy them want just that. I was referring to the Zonda’s, the porsche cayyene’s, the jaguar XJ’s, The ferrari’s, Bugatti Veyron. Even the normal sports cars like the Genesis coupe,G37,370Z, ford mustang, camaro, etc etc etc. let you buy a normal affordable sports sedan/coupe with 300-400 Bhp, and drive it safely. That was rich toy supercar territory 10 yrs back. All that was their in the 80’s and 90’s were experiments, and 2 doors chopped off to call it fun to drive. All the hard work that was made then for the rich brats is now refined and there for all to enjoy today, affordable.

  4. any news on its sister car, the 2011 citroen c4

  5. The front end looks a lot better than the previous models. I own a 2008 308 premium turbo and i must say it is a lovely car though the gear box does not belong to Peugeot’s “BEST OF”.
In terms of reliability i vote for the Peugeot to be the most reliable non japanese car.
    Congrats Peugeot!

    • Im surprised you say they are the most reliable non-japanese brand.. French cars are considered one of worst even in europe…

  6. hi 🙂 i just wanted to ask… i’m tunisian and i want to know what a peugeot 308 would cost me by tunisian dinars !! please reply ^^ thnx
