BMW M5 2012 debuts as concept

This is the near-production version of the 2012 BMW M5. Debuting as a supposed concept, the new M5 is of course based on the all-new 5-Series, with a body kit and different wheels making it look a little more than just a sport package.

There aren’t many other details about the new M5 other than that it will get an upgraded version of the turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 from the X5 M, a 7-speed dual-clutch automanual, a fuel-saving start-stop function, 20-inch wheels and an electronic Active M Differential.

Unfortunately this spells the end of the previous-generation’s naturally-aspirated V10, just like how the true manual gearbox went to hell two generations ago.

Expect the production 2012 BMW M5 to reach showrooms in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other GCC countries.

Keep track of local updates in the BMW 5-Series buyer guide.

What do you think?

  1. I wish they would maintain the V10.

  2. I drove the new 5 series… And buying this is definietly about buying space age technology..

  3. I still hate the way this cars rear looks like. And do those rear tires looks small in comparison to the car??

  4. love to see them on streets soon

  5. no one still beat the E-39 M5…..

  6. i heard that the old m5 was one of the best cars bmw produced but im not sure cuz i never drove one . The sound of the v10 was insane and terrifying.Lets see how this new one will handle and sound

  7. i can see that the rear isn’t that fantastic.. it is a little bit cheap.. we have to remember that we are working on a m5 not on an ordinairy 5-series
