So we got a 2014 Chevrolet Impala

Full-size sedans take a back seat to midsizers and compacts in the UAE, but they’re big business in Saudi Arabia, the largest automotive market in the GCC. And the Americans are especially good at building big sedans. The 2014 Chevrolet Impala is a very important car for General Motors, and the importance they gave it is apparent from the first time you lay your eyes on one.

The Impala is a very attractive front-wheel-drive sedan, hiding its bulk really well with some nicely-placed lines and sharp surfaces.

Inside, they really go all out with the soft-touch surfaces and stitched-leatherette padding. It’s cushier in there than any random similarly-priced BMW. There’s a fair amount of gadgetry too, at least in this top model, including a unique storage compartment that uses the LCD screen as a motorised cover.

There’s no shortage of space, especially in the back, with more apparent legroom than a Ford Taurus and more relative headroom than a Toyota Avalon. And the boot is ridiculously large.

Compared to cars GM used to peddle just a couple of years ago, the Impala is a huge step forward. And it drives better than its direct rivals as well. When we took it out in a parallel road test alongside our unrelated SRT Viper exclusive, I actually enjoyed the sections where I drove the Impala, as a comfortable break from sports-car overkill. • Much better than Dodge Charger in all terms, but only thing let it down is Made in Korea but it depends on individual who cares abt it.

  5. Any news about Chevrolet SS ?

  6. But this can’t replace Lumina or the Caprice well want that car back 🙁

  7. I own the car and trust me, the blend of sportiness and luxury doesnt get packaged better. Check out Consumer Reports – they gave it the highest ever rating for a sedan – only the Audi A7 matches the rating. Awesome car – city driving is so easy and rip the 305 horses open on the highway and it takes off… I chose this one over all the other cars that i tested which included the Lexus ES 350, Jaguar XF, Audi A5 sportback, Hyundai Genesis, Toyota Avalon, Ford Taurus, BMW 535, Merc E350, Dodge Charger, Chrysler 300C and Kia Cadenza – but the overall package with all options ticked off was unmatched…

  8. @ Wael, I have top of the range with 20″ Wheels… Got it for 140000AED

  9. We traded our CTS in for the Impala , drove the new cts and believe it or not the Impala won us over hands down , love all the room style and handling

  10. Picked up a 2LT a month ago -tricolor white. I think it looks better without the side chrome on the doors (LTZ). Running mostly ethanol and a tank of E10 every once in a while -cant tell the difference with power, mileage falls a bit with E85. Solid stiff body, excellent ride -get the Bose sound system if you can.
