2016 Toyota RAV-4 facelift unveiled
The 2016 Toyota RAV-4 facelift has been unveiled. The exterior gets a slight refresh while the interior receives some minor updates.
The front fascia of the new RAV-4 gets a new grille, smaller headlight design and new air intakes. The rear gets a new bumper and liftgate design. A silver skid plate has been added for the higher models, while alloy-rim designs and new exterior paint colours have been added to choose from.
The interior has been updated with more higher quality and soft-touch materials. The shifter design has been changed, and a sunglass holder has been added. The cup-holders have been updated to accommodate mugs with handles. The instrument cluster receives some changes, while additional USB and power outlets have been added.
Under the hood, things will be relatively be the same, with the 176 hp 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine set to carry over from the previous model. Power is delivered via a 6-speed automatic transmission.
A new RAV-4 SE variant has been revealed in the US, which received a sporty front bumper, a revised front-grille,LED headlights and taillights, sports suspension and 18-inch alloy rims. The interior gets leather new seat design, black headliner and a gunmetal trim finish, while paddle-shifters can be added optionally as well.
A RAV-4 hybrid version has also been unveiled, which features a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine, an eCVT transmission and an Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel-Drive System which has a rear electric motor that delivers instant torque to the rear wheels when additional traction is needed.
The 2016 Toyota RAV-4 could make its way to the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other GCC countries before the end of the year. It is still not known whether the hybrid model will be offered here in the Middle East.
